Running a radar detector?

I've got a quick tech question about running a radar detector. I've run this detector on other cars and another motorcycle and it works perfectly fine but on the Strada I just bought it'll come on but only stay on for a certain amount of time then it shuts off. I've trying pulling power straight off of the battery and also from the 12v accessory outlet but both have the same affect. Can anyone shed some light on this issue for me? I bought a 12v accessory outlet that I mounted on the handlebar that accepts a cigarette style plug. Also the amount of time it stays on varies. I'm a little baffled by this. Thanks!!!

I've wired a radar detector to several motorcycles without issue, the Hyperstrada included.

It isn't the bike.

I power everything requiring power, including the driving lights, from one time delayed relay.

RSL, Thank you for showing me your setup. I wound up drawing power from the 12v port under the seat and it seemed to not have the issues I'd had before. If this doesn't continue to work I'll definitely follow your lead and wire it up the way you did. In fact I'll probably just do it that way anyway to eliminate the plug I'm using at the 12v port. Thanks again!
