This is s feeler - thinking of selling my new in the box HS saddlebags. Any interest out there?

May not be a lot of takers as the bags come with Hyperstrada as stock, IIRC.
I would think you'd want to hang onto them, even if you never use them. Once you go to sell your bike, new owner is going to want the bags for sure. So, a selling point for your bike down the road, I would think.
What is MSRP on them anyway? Anyone know? I think they are pretty cool little bags, look OK on the bike and hold a HELL OF A LOT OF STUFF!
I bought a new Nelson-Rigg tail bag (the Jumbo) and it looks crappy on the Hyper IMO, and the saddle bags hold a lot MORE than the big Jumbo tail bag, are less obtrusive as well ... and no issues getting on/off the bike.

I see your point on the resale. However I'm clearly putting more money into the bike than I could recover selling whole, so part out is likely if, and when, that day comes. I also want to go with some Givi hard bags, this will now be my tourer.
Retail on these is pretty steep, almost $1K. They are a good size and good looking I'll admit but here in the land of enchantment, tweekers steel and break into everything, so I've decided to go with hard bags.

I've travelled and camped in New Mexico and never had problems. Might have been lucky. Is this common?

We've got a few tweakers here in San Fran Bay area as well.
I've used GIVI bags before, they are good if you can get ones that tuck in nice and close to the bike. Many hard bags stick WAY out using some sort of universal rack. Not ideal, IMO. I've toured a bit round Western USA, lots in Mexico and Cent. America. Hard bags do give the illusion of security ... and generally ARE more secure than soft bags ... but fact is a Tweaker with any skill and a screw driver can defeat most hard bags in about 2 minutes.
Even Jesse bags or other strong Alu boxes are vulnerable. But the hard bags do seem to keep all but the pro or most desperate thief away ... so generally a good move.
Generally I use soft inner bags within my bags (whether hard or soft). Get to Motel, open box, grab soft inner bag and go. No more than 30 sec going in or out. Very nice on the morning pack up. Just stuff in the inner bag, shut the door and .... GO!

Relo'd hear almost year ago from my home in MD where I never had to lock my doors to you lock EVERYTHING up here. In the end, if it is easy to steal, they will. The trick is to make it harder than the next guy...kinda like not being the slowest guy when chased by the bear.
Is all of NM like this, no. Albuquerque, within city limits, mostly. Since I grew up in Baltimore, ABQ is actually better and mostly safer than parts of Balto city. Since DOJ is running the APD here, the force has shrunk from 1100 to about 800 and been demoralized (can't blame them). If a tweaker comes into your store and walks out with a handfull of stuff, it better be worth more than $500 before they'll come out and do a report (not kidding, on the news). For a blue state, it's WAY more firearm friendly. Guess it's a western thing. Almost none of the crap you deal with in MD.
OK, all that said, I like it here. NO place I've ever lived was perfect. Way different than living out East, which is honestly what I wanted. The people are nice, great outdoors, lots of sun, etc. I'm staying and hoping for the DOJ to get out of town and our elected officials do something about recidivism.

You should see Philthy. Between the crackheads, tweakers and junkies (plus the various combinations) it looks like the zombie apocalypse hit Center City on a nice warm day. The heroin is getting very bad on the East Coast - Baltimore too.
The police just busted a ring operating in my neighborhood, they were selling out of the Wawa down the street from my house - the cashiers were the dealers. The police were tipped off by a corpse (OD victim) found in the vacant lot behind the apartment complex housing the operation. Way to go cops!
Shame it took somebody dying for them to connect the dots.
I've been keeping my eyes open for opportunities elsewhere. The downward spiral keeps spinning faster here.
