Short term storage and battery

Hi Folks,
Just looking for a bit of advice please.
Due to work commitments the bike will be unused for around 5 weeks or so and unfortunately due to where I store the bike, I am unable to connect a trickle charger.
Would you advise me to disconnect the battery ( on negative side ) ?
Or should battery drain be minimal over that 5 week period ?

I know either situation is not ideal and trickle charger is the way to go , however at this time I just don't have that option.

Much appreciated for your advice
Cheers
Will

I was told by my dealer that if the bike sits for more than 3 weeks to put a charger on it. In fact, they installed a "Battery Tender" plug harness on the battery when they PDI'd the bike to keep them charged while on the showroom floor due to the draw that the electronics cause. If you are going to disconnect the negative, why not just pull the battery out and put it on a trickle charger where you have access to an outlet? When you are ready to ride again, drop in your fully charged battery and you'll be ready to go.

I say pull the ground and that should be good enough for the short term. I don't know about the draw on the battery just sitting since I leave my plugged in all the time.

If you spring for a lithium battery, you will not only extend the storage life but also lose 5 pounds from under the seat. I have left our 660 MuZ for six months with no charger, and the Shorai fired that big single right up.

Thanks for all the replies, much appreciated.
