Should I buy a New 2013 Hyperstrada

Hello

I test drove a hyperstrada 2 weeks ago and loved it! The dealer has a great deal on a new 2013 hyperstrada with a 2 year warranty.

The question is...should I buy the 2013 model or the 2015 model?. The 2013 model is 3000$ cheaper.

What are the major differences between the years? Are the 2013 reliable being the 1st year for this model?

Any input would be appreciated. I loved the way this bike handled and I feel like it would be the perfect bike for my needs.

thanks

I believe all '15 models are the "low version", while a '13 is likely the slightly taller version. Do you know which version the '13 is? Other than that, there are practically no differences that I am aware of. Is the '15 worth the extra cost to you?

Buy the '13 if money is an issue and you don't mind the height, buy the '15 if money ain't no thang in the big T dot.. haha Essentially their the same bikes.

I miss TO.. except for the 401.

Edit.. Just think of all the farkles you can get for the 3,000 you saved buying the 13...

A lot of us have experienced some "first year" issues, such as the "Christmas Tree Dashboard of Death". It may never affect you, but do you really want a potential $6000 repair bill hanging over your head when your warranty expires?

Go for the newer one.

Buy it.

I purchased a New '13 this spring and have not regretted it. ~2500 trouble free miles. Most of us have never had a problem with ours. And, you have the warranty for 2 years.

Is it white? Red is the only color available this year.

Thanks everyone for the feedback:) I have another bike I still want to test ride but this is my favourite so far!

I found that I was able to flat foot both of my feet on the demo bike, it was a 2015 model. Being 5'8" would the taller 2013 model be OK?

I'm 5' 8" and have a standard '13. Height is fine for me, but I can't flat foot both feet. I'm very happy with mine. Zero issues after 3000 some miles.

You should try the '13 and see how it fits you. Can't go wrong with either bike, really....

I'll chime in...my '13 has had zero problems with any of the electronics. I did get the forks redone. Otherwise, it has been 100% perfect.

Make sure that the rear preload is all the way down, though.

The critical dimension is your inseam. What if you're 5'8" with a 10" inseam, our advice would be bogus!!:) Also - is flat footing important to you - or is ball of feet OK. I have a 30" inseam - not quite flat foot - seems fine.

I just bought mine a couple weeks ago....put 550 miles on it so far....no problems yet. Just taking it somewhat easy on it while it breaks in. If you love it and it puts a smile on your face then go for it.

I just purchased a leftover 13 as well and absolutely love it with no problems at all. I saved almost 5,000 over a new one!

I'd ask the dealer the differences 2013 to 2015.
I bought arctic white in '13 . Had it sprayed flat black.
I have over 11000 miles, rode it to big bend TX last summer 104F no problems except bought a new rear tire in Dallas to prevent a blowout. Are scorpion trails on 2015 model? They wear quick. I bought pilot sport tires

The 2015, and all Low Version Hyperstradas, have significantly less front suspension travel. Front and Rear Suspension Travel: 2013 Standard - 5.9" -- 2015 Low - 5.1" Or, 15% less.

To lower the bike is was a combination of seat, not sure how much there, but more importantly the lowered suspension.

Buy a Low Version 2015 and you can buy a taller seat, but changing the forks is a significant expense.

For less than $900 a Hyperstrada owner, within the original warranty period, can purchase a top drawer Zurich extended warranty insurance policy covering the same as the original Ducati warranty for 7 years, unlimited miles. That's 5 more, on top of the OE warranty.

That resolves any repair cost concerns during the ownership of the bike.

i got the 7 year warranty because i know if i have any problems at all a ducati wouldnt be cheap. and 7 years should have most of the bigs worked out by then.

I already drag things like the centerstand and toes with my 2013, so I would not like it to be any lower unless Ducati stiffened up the suspension quite a bit.

Considering how wimpy my OEM front springs were, I doubt that.
