Sissy Bar option for HyperStrada?

Hey All,

I had an awesome 100 mile ride yesterday with my girl on the back. She enjoyed the ride as much as i did and the bike handle impressively. The only request she had was if it was possible to put a sissy bar on the bike, a small one at that.

Any options out there you all can point towards?

Thanks!

There was a backrest/rack combo on fleabay but it's not there right now. Look for late Multistrada fitment, it's the same. You could also just mount a rear bag/box (oem or Givi), or even make something that fits the rack mounting holes.

But please no twisted chrome thing!

giogolf, How much are you willing to spend? I would be willing to make one for you out of tube steel or aluminum. I could powder coat it for you to match the grey on the bike or it could be black, chrome, or whatever color. I could make it to mount to the rack mounting holes. How tall are you thinking, can you draw up a sketch? I have cruiser bikes from easy rider in my mind. Is that what you (or she) wants?

If you're really good at cad and fab, I'd go for a flip up style back rest like on some cruiser models. That way you won't look silly when solo.

Wow, the image of an Easy Rider style sissy bar on a Hyper won't leave my brain. OW!

Corbin offers a nice backrest on most of their seats, had one on my Triumph 900. Easily removable, and adjustable. I'll ask them if they can add it to the one I'm planning on ordering.

Seriously, Zippy. I was being nice. That would look awful. Big chrome sissy bars only belong on choppers.

Lol! I agree the image is a bit. .. different. Hey I'm willing to challenge the norm.
I think what giogolf wants is the flip up seat backrest. I've seen them on BMW touring bikes.

Didn't the Buell Ulysses have a flip up back rest thing that doubled up as luggage rack? Perhaps a modified Buell part would do the job, but as said previously in the thread please don't go the Orange County Choppers route:D

I know I've seen a folding driver backrest on a late model Goldwing. I bet wings and BMW have the best chance of finding something to clone.

Love that toured out Diavel. I will own one of those.

What about the ducati performance top case? It doubles as a backrest and holds a good amount of stuff. It only takes 5 seconds to remove it and you're left with the rack - which I think makes the hyper look like a rugged, off road, stunt bike.
