Many of my trips are city driving (5-10 km with stop and go traffic) and I always warm the engine above “LO” before heading out. I generally use sport mode with rider aids disabled. With that, my best case fuel consumption tends to 31-33 MPG (US) or 7-7.5 l/100 km, which seems typical of reports from others. So I occasionally worry about getting home.
Some folks have said urban mode reduces decel pops & farts, so I thought I’d explore what it did to fuel consumption during a conservative (40-65 mph) loop through the twisties. Throttle response and fuelling were definitely worse on urban mode, and it didn’t seem to affect decel pops, but I was pleasantly surprised to find the bike manage 47 MPG (US) or 5 l/100 km.
