TKC 80 Tyres

Im planning on using my Hyperstrada for some dual sport rides. Not talking about dirt bike riding. We usually ride forest roads that are maintained. Occasionally we might hit some more challenging spots but not on purpose. I did some investigating and found my favorite dual sport tires the TKC 80's are available in the Hyperstrada size. I'm thinking of ordering a set because the stockers will have me on my *** in some light sandy roads. Your opinions are appreciated

You and I think alike!

The K60 only comes in a 150 which is too narrow for the Hyper rear, the TCK80s are the best dirt option but have a short life span on the pavement but then you know that. The new Karoo 3s have a 170 for the rear that should work nicely and have been touted as having longer life on the pavement than the TCK80s and just as much traction in the dirt but there is no 17" for the front as of yet,

I was thinking the Sahara 3 in a 130 on the front

with the Karoo 3 in a 170 on the rear.

Another option coming in the pipeline is the Anakee Wild not yet available with unknown sizes

Thanks guys. Would sure like to see some photos of dual sport tyres on the Hyperstrada. Oh you are correct about wear on the TKC's. I would expect only 3000 miles out of the rear. I think they work well on the street because the knobs are really soft, but they wear quickly. Spin the rear wheel in the dirt often and they will really wear fast. I had only 1000 miles on a Husky 650 and they were looking worn

I have a 1200 mile spirted street ride scheduled in July to Gunninson, Colorado area. I think I'll wait until I return to put on the TKC's.

ya know, upon first glance and demo ride I thought taking this thing into dirt would be insane. Yet, I haven't had one single "oh ****" moment where I thought I was going to drop it, and I back it out of my garage onto a well sloped driveway every day. Even when I was super comfy with my sport bikes in the past, I would have at least a weekly scare with the tipping point. Super balanced bike for the size. Bravo Ducati.

Good to know. I don't want that "oh ****" moment either. I can't see why it couldn't match the Multistrada or even the BMW GS 1200 off road. It's lighter, feels like a dirt bike to me and way more balanced than those other bikes I mentioned If they can go off road, so should the Hyperstrada.

Here is a link to what a guy who did the continental divide on a hypermotard did with a D616 and a tire cutting tool. I am thinking this a good option for a 50/50 tire.

Gear | time to get rolling

Love it!

Dude rode a Hypermotard to the top of Mosquito pass in Colorado!! I have been to the top of that pass in my LJ and it's a rough road for sure I can only imagine what it was like on that Hyper!

I know! Made me feel like a total wussy after going down shelf road in Cripple Creek on my Hyper! LOL

No wildlife, but the grass was freshly cut and quite slick! It was a taxing 10 yard traverse. I may mount nobbies for the back yard.

@jerdog53 where did you get that rear tire hugger? I desperately need one of these... I have a Hypermotard but going to add the windscreen and basically kit it out for touring.

Also going to get a set of TKCs and try it off road..
