Carlsbad Ca
Hello everyone

I picked up my White Hyperstrada last Monday and I can't seem to put the thing in my garage without finding a reason why I need to go here or there for no real reason. As always, a new bike ( or anything with a recip engine ) is very tough to resist the break in procedure, I'm impatiently counting down the miles to spool this motor up at 600 miles, then I read the owners manual and found the part that stated something like between 600 - 1500 miles the new tach limit is 7k!! Oh well, I need to work on self control anyway, the thing is just so much fun! I live in Carlsbad CA, look forward to meeting / riding with other owners in the SoCal area and beyond...

Take care,

Mike

I did a little more aggressive brake in on the motor. I have 1000 miles and I just drive it normally. It has a nice kick in the *** after 6k. Have fun!

A light weight bike is like a small sail boat, you will use it more often than a bigger heavier one. I'm always trying to think of someplace I need to go on my bike.

SoCal

Good to see some more out here. I have a red one from Moto Forza. It was the first bike they got in April so I was excited to get on it early. I have seen more Strada, regular, and SP come in the shop and they all look great. I am in Temecula and ridden plenty of roads between Oceanside and Miramar. I head out on 76 and hit backroads to casinos. I did a track day at Chuckwalla and it was great there. Bike is just awesome. There are plenty of options for the long way home that I have used. I am not sure of any Ducati groups. This is my first Ducati and have really become a fan. I added Ducati GPS, touring screen, Termi exhaust, top case. I have done a two up with the wife for poker run and the bike was great, she said it was a fine ride. The top case was a great backrest for her.

I went full twist after 600 mi service. My dealer suggested a more aggressive break-in from get go, and I trust him because he races Ducs. That and the interesting articles posted here on break in, and I say don't take it too easy on her. If I lost some ponies from gunning it too early, I'll never notice as it still excites the hell out of me and I walked the wheel up in 2nd the other night.

A lot of research and dealer wisdom says not letting your engine warm properly on a cold start is probably worst long-term damage you can do, aside from not replacing fluids regularly.

Oh, droning along at constant rpm was something I avoided for first 600 miles.

Good to hear, maybe we'll set up a SoCal Hyper meet up sometime. I too plan on riding the back roads of SD when I get a chance this weekend. It's also comforting that I'm not the only one that has a little bit of an issue with the conservative break in on this motor, there are many different schools of thought on the topic but its my first ducati so I wanted to go for popular opinion. How do you like the Termi pipe? I'm kind of holding out for an option in black though..

Thanks,

Mike

Pipe slip on

I went with the pipe because if I figured I would go for it later anyway. It has a nice sound. I never rode with stock exhaust so I cannot compare. Usually when I buy a bike the first thing I do is to get it 'breathing' better. This bike does not need that but I figured get it with purchase installed and roll it into the total bike financing. It is a nice addition but the price is high. The stock has a nice sound.
