    High speed vibration?

The vibes remind me of my old Yamaha RZ350 and also a Yamaha R3 that I took for a test drive, but maybe a little harsher at some RPMs. I was a little surprised to have any vibes, after listening to all the 698 release-related press hype about the “doppia bieletta” on the original supermono, but...

    High speed vibration?

Rodolfo, The propagation and sense of vibes is highly dependent on structural resonances, for which the intensity varies (up and/or down) across the RPM range. Should have nothing to do with speed, unless it’s an imbalance in the final drive train (wheels, etc.) Various things can be done to...

Build Quality Review: 300 miles on 2024 Hypermotard 698 Mono

I can’t seem to find anything on that rev matching/low speed blip feature you’re referring to in the manual, but will happily turn that off if I can find it. Thanks.

Will a 180 rear tire fit?

Interesting. Would like to hear if you find a solution. How would you rate your 698 against the SXVs? Cool bikes. I wish Aprilia had a better dealer network and more offerings in North America. I saw an SX 125 the other day - cute little 4-stroke urban beater motard, but not available on our...

Build Quality Review: 300 miles on 2024 Hypermotard 698 Mono

I’m on the handraulic rev-matching feature as my quick shifter is still on the slow boat from Bologna. Hoping it has arrived by the time I get back home, in a few weeks.

Auto blipper Idiosyncracy - Maybe a safety issue ??

I had a shorty clutch lever on my 690 and it was missing the tit to actuate the micro switch. What a pain in the arse … any stall and I had to go dig for neutral. Also a mild liability from the safety perspective, but I hate four finger levers.

Auto blipper Idiosyncracy - Maybe a safety issue ??

Ack all. Was just curious if it had been a particular downshift (e.g. 4->3 or 2>1) that was causing you grief.

    Reluctant starts

Might even start burping it after each ride, just to see if that makes a difference.

    Reluctant starts

Totally seems like it’s flooded. I’m away from the bike for the next three weeks, but next chance I’m gonna open the gas cap (to “burp” the tank) before I turn on the ignition and fuel pump. I’m wondering if the injector dribbles a lot during the power up / boot sequence.

Auto blipper Idiosyncracy - Maybe a safety issue ??

Thanks HM. Curious if it was or wasn’t any specific gear change where you found it. False neutrals were always a bitch on 690 up shifts, but more embarrassing than dangerous. 698 transmission has been far better for me.

    Reluctant starts

My surprise is based on my ‘16 KTM 690 Enduro: it had an evap can (which I removed with a sensor bypass) but it also had a direct tank vent hose, near the filler hole.

    Reluctant starts

The starter motor seems mildly anemic but the bike has been starting quite reliably after a few cycles. The bike is normally parked underground, except at work. With warmer weather now, I’ve had two instances where it seemed like the bike was not going to start when leaving work at the end of...

Build Quality Review: 300 miles on 2024 Hypermotard 698 Mono

Same here, but I was stuck in traffic the other day and almost came to appreciate the odd ECU linkage between clutch & throttle; I was able to creep along from a dead stop with my right hand completely off the throttle. More importantly, I think my engine has finally loosened up a bit. Pinning...

Build Quality Review: 300 miles on 2024 Hypermotard 698 Mono

Fueling below 5k RPM is a mess, even drifting and surging with steady input, but it seems very happy above 6k. :) Pretty hard on gas, but the only concern there is running out of fuel in the middle of nowhere. On my 690 I would get 160 km to the light, with 13 litre tank and ECU mapped to full...

Glowing Header and Burning Plastic Smell - Hypermotard 698 Mono

So I need to pound CAD$4400 into a full Termi system? G'dammit. The Wings slip-on for my 690 (with implicit cat delete) was only about $500, and the official KTM remap was only about $200. Anybody seen any dyno runs with the full Termi posted on YT?

Anyone found rearsets that work on the 698? Or race pegs not made by Ducati?

Agreed on the anchors, Dolphin. PS: TZR sounds like a rare bird. I had an '89 F2 RZ350 until some low-life dirtbags stole it in '92. The 698 is better than the RZ350, in almost every way, although I vaguely recall it would pull 220 km/h (136 mph) on the highway.

Ducati HyperEnduro 698 Mono - Hypothetical

Your render is beautiful, Margus.Tubeless & AXP Racing bashplates - mandatory. Not convinced the 698 engine is well suited to offroad/ADV, but your vision is closer to the unicorn than the Desert X Discovery.

Build Quality Review: 300 miles on 2024 Hypermotard 698 Mono

I find my transmission shifts great while the bike is moving, but at a red light, it occasionally takes 5-6 stomps to get it back into first from neutral. I'm going to try rocking the bike a little the next time it happens.

Glowing Header and Burning Plastic Smell - Hypermotard 698 Mono

The 698 runs as hot as (or hotter than) my 2016 KTM 690 Enduro R, but the burnt plastic smells were gone by about 400 miles. For the record, I never had any such smells with the KTM.
