Mine also cracked right at a weld.

I've heard the dealer needs to reset something, a quick fix. No idea why it happens in the first place.

Wow, good catch on the different oil heights. My SP was the same on both sides, so I guess the standard model has different guts.

You'd be surprised how nasty it gets really fast just from the spring scraping the inside of the tube. Lots of metal buildup.

You can use Spectro 7.5W as it's similar viscosity. What you can do is lift the front end of the bike up so the wheel is off the ground and take both caps off. Measure the distance to the oil on the non-leaking leg, and duplicate that on the leaky leg. It might be tricky depending on how the...

I had the same thing happen on another bike of mine and I drilled and tapped a bolt into the lever and it worked for years!

I wouldn't waste the money on it. The stock header pipes are huge and straight through, so you won't gain much if anything by going with a full system versus just a slip on without cat. I personally think the bike has the right amount of power as is.

My friend just bought it so I only had one choice :D. One of the first S's in the states apparently. The motor is insanely torquey. The suspension was decent but did feel a bit unbalanced front-to-rear, the rear being much stiffer. I'm not sure about the differences compared to the R.

I just rode the 790 ADV S yesterday which is more road oriented. Nice bike, feels like a big dirtbike. The low slung fuel tank makes sense functionally despite looking a little funny. I bet it's good offroad.

I only did a tiny bit of offroading with my SP and it didn't do so hot. Just too stiff, geometry is all wrong, and most of all the consequences of tipping over is too much.

The 9K service IIRC is simply an oil change, chain tension, and air filter (which depends on how much dust/bugs you ride in). All relatively easy stuff.

You might want to check if there is a recall or programming update.
