Probably several causes for poor hot-starting, but one we know of is the power draw caused by a failing starter motor. The later Denso starters are much better engineered.

Yes, I'm hoping Ducati puts this motor into something more mellow and suitable for older riders who simply appreciate single-cylinder bikes as well as twins. Sadly, I fear that wouldn't be sexy enough for the marketing department, even if it were possible to tune the motor accordingly.
