Presumably, your front indicators are still working? If so, you'll need to backtrack on the wiring until you reach the flasher unit, which is bound to be a pain. Good luck!

I've just been digging in my store because there must have been more bits I took off my HS, such as the grab-handles etc. It turns out I bought the genuine Ducati Performance 'carbon half-tail kit', 96989951A, which has plenty of diagrams and probably included some fixings too. Oh, and...

Hi Johny, I'm not going to be as much help as you'd like because I really don't want to dismantle my bike to find out! I do recall the change from HS to HM rear end as being very easy, changing to CF side pieces in the process. Obviously you need access to bolts to fit, but I keep a big stock...

I've managed this conversion without buying any other components. Can't remember the details but I'll check it out tomorrow. As regards lashing luggage in place, I had a feeling my standard 2013 HS has the fold-out hooks underneath, just like the DP seat on my ST4. More tomorrow... Nick

In the UK, I bought my 2013 HS for £6K several years ago and the prices still seem to be around or slightly below that now. Don't confuse what sellers ask for with the price they sell at!

Thanks for your comments, Brad. Not knowing your height (I'm 5'6"), the most telling point is that your HS is the low version whereas my HS is the original 2013 tall one. It would be a help to see the OEM seat and racing one pictured together to understand where the differences are. I reckon...

So what difference did the racing seat make? Is it as comfortable on the bum as the OEM one? I can see it gives more room to slide back so the riding triangle is more relaxed but unless the flatness is simply due to a reduction in the pillion section, I presume the rider's section is narrower...

The standard HS is rather close-coupled, seat to bars, even for me at 5'6". However, it is possible to rotate the 'bars forward a bit, and the flatter racing seat would probably allow you to sit higher and further back. I've not changed my seat because the bike is plenty high enough already for me!

I guess it depends on what you are going to use your HS for, but the best tidying of the tail IMO is to remove all the luggage supports. I also fitted CF HM tail panels and it looks very sleek, even with the OEM plate and indicator supports still proudly jutting out!

Screens mostly suck if you're after a quiet ride; something I also learned long ago because naked bikes are so much quieter in general. Maybe rider body shape/height is too variable for most designers of screens to even consider the likely airflow from the chunks of plastic they stick on the...
