    Headlight bulb issue

Just a follow-up to this thread. Last year I gave up on LED main H4 bulbs in the HS, much as I go for them in all other bikes/cars, because of compatability issues. Yesterday I tried again because I hate the feeble glow of halogen. I've re-fitted the good-quality Auxito H4 I last tried but added...

Installing Aprilia (Eldor) Coil Packs on Hypermotard/Hyperstrada

Yes! Buying the Aprilia coils is probably cheaper and easier than the Ducati ones (of course, you might get lucky), but it was very simple to splice the Ducati connectors onto the Aprilia cables, rather than changing the connector blocks. On advice from here, I also fitted a cheap ferrite choke...

    Shock and Fork Lengths

Given the chassis is exactly the same, are we to assume that the difference lies in the available suspension travel, and might that mean the low model needs stronger springs to compensate? It'll be interesting to get my measuring stick out tomorrow... Nick, UK

    Shock and Fork Lengths

I haven't any measurements for you as yet, but perhaps you need to specify the condition of measuring, i.e. on side-stand or centre-stand or wheels otherwise free of the ground? Then of course there's the question of seat spec to complicate the effective riding height. Nick

How many miles on your Hyperstrada today?

Well, an ST4 Ducati of course, plus various Cagivas (Canyon 500, Gran Canyon 900, Raptor 650, Raptor 1000, Alazzurra 650-ish), two Gilera NordWest 600s, a '76 Suzuki GT550 and a '53 Guzzi Airone Sport. One or two of them need a little work but they are all in good shape. Problem is finding space...

How many miles on your Hyperstrada today?

My 2013 HS 821 has a massive 9863 miles on the odo! Most of that was put on by the previous (first) owner who took his lady to the TT on it at least once. So far, I just use it for a bit of fun local riding to contrast with the other machines on hand, dry-weather only. I know I'm pretty lucky...

    New owner in AZ

Hmm, I was wondering if the forum would ever function again. It seems so! As for Multis; I would like to try a late 950s, but the looks and price are against me so I'll stick with my 'Strada. Cheers to all :) , Nick, UK

    New Ducati DesertX

Whether or not the specification is appropriate for the suggested use, would any Ducati enthusiast actually buy a bike like that and ride it through deep sand? The thought of what that would do to the transmission, wheel bearings and brakes, quite apart from the air filtering provision, would...

    2022 MV Brutale 800RR - I may have to...

Re access, I think the time has long-gone when you could see clean through a bike, cos there's so much to package. I seem to recall that Terblanche once said that Ducatis would always have free space around the motor, but that doesn't apply to such as the latest Monster. I suppose they still...

    BoosterPlug vs. Rapid Bike Easy

It's a technical term indicating extreme difficulty, as in Pain In The A***!;)

    2022 MV Brutale 800RR - I may have to...

Stylish without doubt, but an owner's review I found says there are still fueling problems. I guess it depends on whether you enjoy high-revving bikes. Two cylinders do it for me!

BoosterPlug Fuel Injection Tuning for the Hypermotard-Hyperstrada

As I mentioned previously, I fitted one and noticed no effect so moved on to a RB Easy to see if that gave improved performance on the otherwise standard settings and equipment. If it did, it was marginal. I can see the BP could be a useful tool when you've altered other parameters but I have no...

    Remapping a Hyper 939

Hi Mr Duc, To be honest, when I bought the one-previous-owner, low-mileage, unmodified 821, I wasn't sure it's fuelling needed any intervention anyway, not like the dreadful grabby clutch. I could never be certain that any very slight bumpiness was anything to do with the motor, rather than...

    Aprilia Coils ?

Jerdog, I doubt anyone has ordered them new from Aprilia. My guess is they would be mighty expensive. Just search ebay for used coils from a V4 Aprilia Tuono and you'll get a couple of spares too for 100GBP or maybe ?$150.

    Gear indicator

Thanks for posting the pic, Tim. Mine is very similar, is mounted in the same place on the left of the display and the digits are in a tasteful green. I thought I might have to lift the tank to get the cable from back to front, but there was plenty of room to hook it through with a length of...

    Gear indicator

I got around to fitting a Healtech GIPRO gear indicator today, model no. GPDT-DO1, on my 2013 821 'Strada. I have one on my 2000 Duke ST4 to which I had to fit a proximity detector to count the rear wheel rotations, but was delighted to find the versions for later bikes like the 'Strada work off...

    New to me 2016 low

Welcome to the asylum! They are great-looking bikes and brilliant fun to ride, plus you'll likely have a few jobs to do on it but at least the clutch should be fine being a 2016 model. Cheers, Nick, UK

    Remapping a Hyper 939

I suspect the major difference between the Sport and Touring maps is the throttle ramp, rather than the mixture control or fueling. In Touring, the first few degrees of twistgrip give a gentle and controlled increase in power output, followed by a major kick in the pants with more twist. This...

    Remapping a Hyper 939

The temperature-modifying Booster Plug did nothing for me, so I have one spare if anyone in the UK wants to try it. I went with the RB Easy and expert setting up, mostly because of curiosity and the reputation of the bike. Better is always an improvement even when nothing seems wrong, no? I...

    Lithium Battery on Hyperstrada

I'm no suspension expert, but if I understand your comment on having the forks high in the triple-tree and a long shock at the back, have you not altered the steering angle precisely in the direction of instability? Years ago, we watched a drag/sprint bike come to the line with a very steep...
