180/60 tire and hugger

I am replacing the stock tires finally and I went with Rosso Corsa IIs in 180/60. I'm a track guy and this taller rear tire profile is more what I'm used to. I think it will suit this bike quite nicely.

BUT, it barely fits under the hugger. I'm thinking at speed, it will rub. Guess I will have to mod the hugger, ditch it altogether, or get one with more room. Anyone replace the hugger? What brand and is there more room than stock?

I'd attempt to run it. Check it after a track day or a few hundred miles for marks or rubbing. Just my 2 cents.

I think it will depend on how far the hugger is going to flex. Did you have a Motard or a Strada? I know they use different rear huggers.

Hmm, as suspected it rubs pretty badly under way. I thought of raising the hugger with washers, but it attaches to both horizontal and vertical surfaces of the swingarm making that a real PITA. I think I will remove it and oval out the vertical holes so I can tilt it more... or cut it.

Ok. I was able to gain some clearance by ovaling the holes. As i suspected the tires are brilliant on this thing. Handles soooo much better. Falls into turns and affers more grip and feedback than the stockers.
