2013 Monster 796 - Thoughts?

Hey there folks. I have been watching a 13 Monster 796 Anniversary model on Craigslist and Cycle Trader for a month or so. The bike has 610 miles on it and just about all upgrades I would want. The 600 mile service has been done. It was bought and serviced from the same dealer I got my 939 from. I watched it go from $10.5k firm to $9200 make an offer over the month. That still a bit high but the thing looks great. I spoke with the owner and I could get it for $8500 which is more realistic market I think. Thoughts? Anyone have experience with the 796?

I had the 795 which is pretty much the same bike except for the swingarm. However, it doesnt come with traction control, only ABS. You dont wanna get stuck in traffic on that bike as it is air cooled unlike my Hyper 939, i never experienced overheatin thanks to the added oil cooler. Otherwise, its a great looking and iconic bike.

Not a whole lot of experience with the previous air-cooled motors, but I wouldn't go less than the water cooled 821. Personally, I would get bored quick with the power stats for the 796 and less happy with service interval. Seriously, the 1200 Monster is what you want. Not need...want.

Well folks I appreciate the feedback. I spoke truth to power last night and I'm afraid she completely nixed the idea of another motorcycle. Two is her limit.

I picked up a 2014 M796 with 1900 miles and $1500 worth of accessories for $7K. Mint condition bike. There are many of these for sale in Boston area now.

Cheers.
