20mm fork difference - ride impact

Hi All,

Considering the new hyper - really like the touring seat and the screen, but dont really need the bags, center stand, 12v, or other strada features. So thinking to get a hypermotard and add a touring seat and screen.

Since the 2 bikes have different suspension, and geometry, I'm curious as to how the 20mm longer front travel in HM (and resulting geometry) will influence the bike handling.

Dont have a way to ride them both side by side. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
d

Read "Initial Ride Impressions" and anything posted by SuperTen or jerdog53. Unfortunately, front fork is a weak point of HS. I haven't read of shortened travel being an issue as much as rebound & dampening. It's soft and abrupt in it's action.

I don't know of anyone on this forum yet that has done some serious off-roading and I have no idea how front end will perform.

I almost went with the HM because of the 1" longer fork travel (at least advertised), but it is not adjustable either.

Also I keep a ziptie on my fork, never used over 4.5". The Strada is advertised with 5.9" travel????

The forks are the weak link on this bike, I have modified mine to work pretty well, but still not the best in all conditions.
