Yo, Hypers!

I'm about to do the 9000 mi service and was hoping you guys could help me out with a couple items. If I recall correctly, the big items are plugs, oil, air filter.

1. Plugs - is there a better/cheaper aftermarket alternative? Can somebody list the stock plug product code (I've moved recently and can't locate the manual right now).

2. Air filter - I'd like to install a washable, hopefully higher flow. Anybody got a reputable aftermarket brand?

Also, if anyone has a one-stop parts site, please list it. So far it's a lot of hunting and pecking.

1. Stick with NGK, which is usually what the manual recommends. We're only talking a few bucks here, and it's one of the most important parts of the functioning engine.

2. Also, stick with OEM or equivalent. Remember, more flow=less filtering.
 
I can't remember which forum I saw it on but changing your air filter from OEM starts wandering you into no warranty land. If I remember right, the poster went to Duc of Bellevue and he was able to get a PC5/tune without voiding it but the dealer warned against using an aftermarket performance filter (I believe he referenced the MWR HE air filter) as that would cause issues with future warranty claims.

I would double check with your dealer to see what they say if you choose to go that route.

This might be acceptable in the UK, where air filters were once optional... nothing but a velocity stack on my 1950's Velocettes! My '69 had a "filter" filled with super coarse steel wool.

Around here we have blowing dust and sand, in fact we're expecting 80+ mph gusts tomorrow. I'd check and clean it annually. At least the latest version of the manual (now on fleabay) has the fuel tank R&R info. It looks tedious but not impossible with normal tools. You have to do this to change the spark plugs, so checking and cleaning the air filter should be no problem.
 
Is that the same manual a bunch of us purchased a while back that was incomplete? I read we can get updates if already purchased.

Yeah, I talked to the techs last time I was at the shop and new I had to pull the tank. Guy said it looks more intimidating than it is but he cautioned me about some of the fasterners/hardware that can stip or break if not careful.
 
The original website with the manuals is 404'ed. Now the manuals are on fleabay, for more money but still not anywhere near what the dealer-only USB thing costs.

If you have the last version, it does have the fuel tank R&R procedures. Still nothing on the electronics, though. That might well be in a separate manual.
