Advice on sticky tires for dry twisty riding?

I was thinking Metzler Roadtech 01. Any other suggestions? I got 3k miles out of the stock tires. Getting a little more would be OK but performance first.

Great tires, I,m using them 2000 miles so far , they are great. I went for 400 miles of many curves, really sharp ones and the tire was very sticky.

Talking about metzeler roadtech 01

Getting a set of Metzeler roadtec 01's fitted next week. They're not cheap but all reviews have been good. I've got a track day coming up the week after and I'm expecting more grip and feedback from them compared to the Scorpions.

I switched the stock tires to Metzeler Roadtec 01 and I was shocked by how much grip I had. As I was going through a very familiar twisty road with the Roadtec now installed, I was wondering if I was going way under the speed limit because of how controlled the bike was compared to the Scorpions (admittedly, they were quite worn), but I wasn't... the tires just stick to the pavement.

I have about 1500 miles on a Pirelli Diablo Rosso III Tires. I'm not an expert rider but in comparison to the stock tires they seem much more sticky. How do these compare with the other tires mentioned here?

I've ridden Pirelli Supercorsa, Rosso III and Angel GT. I've managed to push the front once with the Angels, but that was on a dirty, off camber up hill turn where I started trail braking before getting off the throttle, so.. oops. While the Rosso and Supercorsa inspire more confidence, the Angel GT hooks up very good and gets much better mileage. I got 3k out of the supercorsa, 4k our of the rear on a Rosso III and have 5500 on the Angels now, front looks basically new and the rear probably has another 1 - 2 k in it thought it suffered dearly in the Nevada heat on my July roadtrip and has more of a flat spot then I expected given my experience with my previous set (on the old bike, 7k and the rear is barely showing wear).

That's the other tire I'm thinking of. No trail riding. Just twisties in the mountains.

I hear the Diablo Rosso III is terrific. More opinions on that vs the Metzler 01?

Most of my riding is on moderately good paved roads with occasional gravel and mud stretches. The scorpions did seem to offer less grip than I expected and they wore quickly. I have had excellent performance from a set of Metzeler M5s on my KTM 390 and I went with a set of Metzeler M7RR tires for the Hyper.
Dry grip from this tire is very high and I can confidently push the bike hard on mountain roads. The tire seems to handle surface transitions without any fuss when leaned over fully. I have only about 5mm of chicken strips left on the rear tire.
The tire has been amazing in the rain and wet grip is insane. Earlier with the slightest amount of surface water on the road, I'd have the traction control cutting in all the time. Now even on sport mode and DTC 7 , in rain, the Traction control does not cut in much and the bike feels much faster.
I suppose that the Roadtech 1 will be a great tire to use. You'll probably get better life than the pure sport tires while retaining most of the grip.

I am hard on tires because of my use of full throttle and enjoyment of twisty backroads. As such, I have worn out a number of tires on the motorcycles in the garage.

The Roadtec 01 was a surprise on tow northern California rides. Great grip wet & dry. Great durability and rim protection with hundreds of potholes. Great traction when exploring the limits of adhesion.

Roadtec 01 is great on California roads like these:

Just got the Roadtec 01's installed! Hoping for some good weather this weekend. I did notice the TC light flickering under light acceleration in first and second. But only in urban mode which I don't use much.
The tires are exactly spec size, would a slight variation in circumference cause this?
Anyway I can convince the computer all is good?

I dunno if you can change the size the computer expects but I have read that the same size tire will still vary in circumference which can throw off traction control and abs. If it's only happening in urban mode it's probably not a big deal, and worst case you can always dial back the aggressiveness of the TC setting.

Thanks Nate,

I'm not concerned just very surprised how sensitive the system is. Track day coming up so the circumference will probably reduce a bit anyway :)
Just got half an hour in before the rain and happy with feedback from these tires so far!

Never had those problems with either the scorpion 1 or the 2 that I use now. Sure any of these tires are very good.

After careful consideration I got the Pirelli Angel GT. From everything I read it's a toss up between those and the Metzleer Roadtec 01. It appears the Metzeler may be better in the wet, but I never ride in the rain.

Took the Angel GT out and gave them a nice scrub on Glendora Ridge Road, and I'm SUPER pleased. What I like best is how the front wheel just falls into a turn now. It's a real upgrade for my type of riding which is fast curvy roads.

I have read of people getting 10k miles out of them. If I get 6k I'm fine.

Thanks to all of you for your input!!!!

You'll be happy with those (angel gt). I'm on my second set and they've never let me down on the road, in the rain, or on the track. Exceptional mileage and resistance to squaring off as well.
