Update on my Dec 15' post, as I have 2500 miles on a 15' Hyper now. Only upgrades are the heated grips(Must have in Oregon!), Mototech skid plate, removed the exhaust valve. This is a really great bike, I have 30 years of riding sport bikes and this is the fastest bike I have owned. Not technically but due to the control, comfort and ABS + DTC. Last bike was an ST3 which seems like it would be faster but only after you are 100 mph+. Below that and the Hyper is way more relaxing and quick. Reminder I'm 5'6" 160 lbs. 95% solo rider and mostly country roads 2 hrs or less, commute in urban areas and occasional dirt rides.
Cons: Low RPM fueling(It hates being below 5k especially in Sport mode), passenger area (small/bike light), steering a little unstable 110+ mph, hits fuel light at 120 miles, best for a day of street riding <400 miles.
Pros: Very comfortable, freakin quick, 3 ride modes, heated grips!, low speed steering, sound, great on street, good on fire roads, panniers, low maintenance, feels light, makes me smile on EVERY ride.
I think on a longer multi-day trip with my SO I would rent a BMW or MTS. Otherwise the Hyper is my 95% solution.
