Backfiring on decel?

I'm really starting to like this bike the more I ride it. Coming off Adv Touring bikes, I'm starting to understand how to ride it. It definately takes more input and attention then my Tenere, but the payoff is worth it.
I notice on decel the bike pops and backfires a bit. I'm assuming this is pobably due to emmisions and is maybe running a bit lean.
Is this normal and is there anything to prevent it.

It is normal for this bike. It also sounds aw3some and makes everyone heads turn to look. It does more when riding it hard. When riding around town it doesnt really happen. Enjoy it and flog it.

Thanks
It does sound cool, just didn't know if it was running lean.

Pretty normal when you spank it. Just watch for it shutting off during it. If it does either ask your dealer to remove the charcoal canister and/or replace the throttle aps sensor ;)

its a trait found in several vtwin sport style bikes. My dl650 dose it as well as my gt650 hyosung dose it. And the wife's Hyperstrada dose it (mine you hers sounds good doing it the other 2 well ya lets leave it at that).

No, in fact it's running slightly richer than would be preferred for emissions purposes. They do that to smooth our throttle response at small openings supposedly. Then, to keep things clean, air is injected into the exhaust to complete combustion. Those are the pops you're hearing.

Personally I like the popping and grumbling, a bike should spit brimstone and fire:cool:
