Barkbusters On Hyper

Dropped my bike on its side while stopping on a sloped road. Thanks to T-Rex sliders, only damage was a slight scratch on Givi case and a busted handguard.

Wanted to get handguards that were a little more beefy, but the DP ones were way too steep.

Ended up fitting a set of Barkbusters after some research and playing around.

Can post a more detailed write up if there's any interest.

Yes, I'm pretty happy with the fit.

It's actually a combination of parts.

1) I used the KTM Super Duke kit BHG-054 because I wanted the black backbone. From that kit I used the backbone, the bar end insert and the straight connector to the backbone.

2) BTC-06 is the tapered mounting kit. I used the bar mounting clamp from this kit because the offset allowed it to clear the cables and wires.

I also ordered the VPS handguards and their signal light kit, but you can pick whatever type handguard and lights you want.

Their signal light LED-001-AM was quite pricey at $68. Don't know if I would do that again if I had to do it over. The flash rate was fine without needing to add resistors. I guess the canbus took care of it on its own.

You can also look at the various kits they have with handguards, backbone and mounting kits together to see if there's a combination that will work for you. There are more options available if you're not particular about the backbone color.

If you had the time, you may want to contact Barkbusters directly to see if they would put together a kit for you or sell you the tapered clamp by themselves. I provided Ryan Whipps all the info on the parts I used for my install. He's their Production Manager ([email protected]). It might come out cheaper.
