Best sounding exhaust

Ok, let's face it, aftermarket pipes' only REAL value is to enhance the aural experience. So I want to know what pipe sounds best on the hyperstrada.
Can any members with different exhaust systems installed please make a good recording and post it here? That will help the rest of us fence sitters make the "right" decision:)

I've only actually heard one hyper with an aftermarket exhaust in person, and it was one of those tiny SC Project race cans... which is not much more than a straight pipe. The bike sounded ridiculously good, but was also stupid loud.

I think the Termi pipes usually sound good. The stock pipe sounds rather farty... not my favorite.

Leo vince on my 821 sounds great a bit loud with db killer removed

S C Projects on mine ... sounds lovely with baffle in or out .

I'm looking for an exhaust that sounds like a Tesla. Silent. I much prefer stealth mode, to not alert LEOs of my approach.

Quickly pass by without pissing the locals off by making a lot of racket.

OK, but what I was shooting for were .mp3 type files posted here that we can hear...

GPR on mine, sounds great and not offensive like the SC project.
Good quality too.

I just bought a Competition Werkes pipe that I'm really happy with. Sound is loud without a baffle, but not too much so. Wide open throttle is when it's noticed most. Otherwise at idle it just had a much deeper tone than stock, not that much louder. It snaps and snarles on decel, too.

I might order a baffle just to see if it had better tone.

I have a spare exhaust that I'm going take apart and put in a sound reducing wrap. Of course, I've been saying this for 2 years...

The bike is actually a lot louder from the rider's perspective, but in the woods it sounds too loud to me.

The downside is, with a quiet exhaust, I'll have to really hunt down the small rattles and squeaks that this machine seems to revel in.

I'm pretty happy with the stock exhaust then again, I am coming from a very sedate sounding Honda 599 and before that a Honda CBR with a two brothers exhaust which was, to say the least, loud. If I could justify the expense a termi would be nice but that would be purely vanity as the bike already has more power than I have skill.

The exhaust note turns heads as it is. I was heading home on 280 a few weeks back and was working my way through some bunched up traffic as I got on the gas to get around a shuttle bus I noticed a cop had someone pulled over as saw him turn his head to look in my direction. Happily for me that didn't result in a ticket.

Not a stock twin expert, but the stock can sounded good enough that I didn't want to swap it for 10K miles. It boomed enough when I fired it up in my garage, I wondered how it passed certification. I think it's still the very first thing you do for an I-4.

I wouldn't right off bike pipes as purely aural. As the flow is freed up, it breathes much better. Enough that you typically need to specify whether you have an aftermarket or not when buying a tune. Bikes react much better than slapping a can on a car. Even more so if you get a full system. You could certainly gut the stock can to open it up but you'll probably have problems with back pressure/ low end.

I went with Akra because, well, Akra. And it is one of the few makers that offer a header. Sound is great - little deeper than stock but not obnoxious with DB killer in. Haven't removed DB killer but it's loud enough for me as is.

I have a Termigoni. It was on my bike when I bought it. Just a bit loud for me ... and still TOO BIG.
Weight?
Anyone know how much lighter it is than stock pipe?
Few here have mentioned WEIGHT for a reason to buy aftermarket pipe. On most bikes ... this is a major consideration. On my DR650 stock pipe weighs over 15 lbs.
Yosh pipe weighs 7 lbs.

Sound wise, Termi sounds pretty good, but I've not yet done a group ride ... and my riding buddies will give me the business if they think it's too loud. We are not fans of super loud pipes.

I've heard the stock Hyperstrada exhaust, also thought it was quite LOUD for a stock pipe. How they got it passed? No idea.

Speaking of lane splitting ... so far I LOVE the Termi pipe in traffic. People really do hear this thing coming! A really good thing IMO as lane splitting still scares me ... even though been doing it decades. (it's always a bit risky ... even if you're careful ... too many drivers distracted, asleep or dumb :D )

But as noted, a loud pipe gets The Man's attention too. Ever vigilant! Unlike my
grubby DR650, the Ducati gets a look from the man. I've ridden my DR650 since 2006 and 60K miles. Never pulled over yet. (knock wood) It's got a fairly LOUD Yoshi pipe on it too! Go Figure!

Good point about weight. I think the Akra was over 7lbs lighter than stocker, and much slimmer.

Hi there. I have a Termignoni on my Diavel and it fell apart!! The rivets all are backing out and I contacted the factory and got nothing back in any response so I'm not giving them my business again.

I heard a recording of the Term slip on and it sounds good. I want it a little louder and more aggressive but not crazy loud. I can't find a recording of the GPR anywhere. How would you describe it?

Where did you buy yours? Thanks!

From what I've gathered from YouTube clips, the smaller tubes are obviously the loudest. The thicker cans with a DB killer are on the Termi level of noise. I would not buy a slip on that doesn't have a DB killer if you're even slightly hesitant about noise.

Anyone noticing any significant change in their torque curve with these slip-ons?
Or is it only more decibels?

I have an Arrow on mine and I think it sounds good. With the db killer in I'd say it's slightly louder and deeper than stock. I think it looks a lot better too, since it is a lot smaller than stock. With the db killer out I find it too loud. Cost was a lot more reasonable than the Termi. I bought mine direct from Italy and got what I thought was a pretty good deal at the time.

Tough call as I had a tune and high-flow air filter before I swapped the can. Maybe little quicker throttle response, but no seat-of-the pants gains felt. If you just do a pipe, you'll probably notice a little more grunt. Definitely would investigate a filter and tune if your going to put a pipe on. And I'm not talking about just dropping in a washable air filter; with the MWR kit you actually cut a 4x6" square out of the intake box and put an additional filter over that. There's a Ducati Corse racing filter for the Motard that has a larger stock intake shroud but I honestly couldn't ever find it on any of the parts sites. You'll need a tune if you do a can and the intake mod.
