Best top case rack?

I have a Givi top case that I use for commuting on all my bikes. I need to install something on my new Hyperstrada but am looking for some opinions on what to buy (or avoid). I noticed the load ratings are pretty stupid low. My case “empty” is close to 17 lbs with my usual gear. Add my laptop bag and work items and it’s probably every bit of 25-30 lbs.

Any suggestions? I’m not interested in buying the Ducati top case, btw…

I bought a Givi sra 7403 for the base. Hard to find them, but I located one off an Italian website and had it shipped to USA. I picked it for the steel horse-shoe shaped support rods which connect to the bottom of the subframe. Hopefully it distributes some of the weight off of Ducati OEM plastic bits. There are a few photos here of cracked grab rails.

Then I picked up a larger givi monokey v47 top case. Fits two helmets. I have likely exceeded the weight with outdoor equipment more than once. But its still plastic... I sometimes worry the abus lock will punch a hole in the top case after a bump! Maybe look at a metal box for more weight?

That Givi kit you mentioned is a front runner for me based on your same logic. I’ve used their kits on other bikes and never had a problem. Most notably, I used it on my Multistrada 1200 which had a similar looking fiber reinforced rack system and never had a problem.

I also have a V47. Had it for years, and it shows. Never had a problem with it. Knock of wood…
