Duc ee for Hyperstrada???

I am keen to disconnect the flapper valve in the exhaust. Anybody been down that route with the Hyperstrada, I would be keen to here your feedback.

I note that there is no Duc'ee listed yet for the Hyper 821. I have seen some other Ducati forums where various methods have been used to avoid "codes" when the vale controller is disconnected, but I am not that technically savy so I think I will go the Duc'ee route if they make one to suit.

I have contacted the vizi-tech. The supa brake version 2 is ready for hyperstrada. But for DUC EE, it should be ready in another one month time

Cheers ohayo thanks for the feedback. I will be an early customer as I want the flapper valve gone:)

What are the gains/losses with removing the flapper? I would suspect it maximizes back pressure in the low end.

Yeah I am interested to know why you would want to do this? Its my understanding it improves the low rpm performance, but then I guess if all you will be doing is racing why have it.

It's there to help warm up the catalytic converter from cold, once its up to temp the flaps open.
This is what the dealer told me anyway.
I've also read that it helps reduce exhaust noise at low rpm, and that most new bikes have them fitted these days. To pass noise regulations.

Well, call me a an earth pig, but I religiously cut the cats off any performance vehicle I own. So, that mechanical noise you hear when turning the key is the flap closing?

The ECU is pretty invasive on this model. I guess full system maker's have a patch but I'm guessing it would be difficult to get a fixed map, plus I assume a proprietary Duc diagnostic tool to load it.

Last late model car I did downpipes/cat-delete on they had rigged a specialty 02 bung that tricked the ECU. Do they do this for bikes?

De-gutted the cat from my evo hyper. Sound is good. Performance can be felt. But the fuel consumption dropped terribly. From standard 18km per litre to 14-15km per litre. In the end. I have to fix up pc5 n auto tune to manage the poor fc.

Dont think I will do this to the hyperstrada

I have read many threads about the flapper valve and from what I have gleaned its there to meet drive by noise emission limits in Europe in the tested range 3000 to 7000rpm.

I propose to put a slip on. Sc project or Arrow exhaust with no cat so the flapper valve would be just a restriction in the exhaust that robs you of the Ducati rumble. If I have any adverse affects you can always plug it back in.

While waiting, i bought the supa brake 2 instead. Work like charm!! the size of it is amazingly small!!!

If you can see the module in the 2nd picture, i buy you beer!! haha

I've been thinking of loosing the actuator too for the flapper valve. Figured I would do it this winter when I'm bored.

Guys, I removed the flapper valve on my multistrada as it rusted and seized. I fitted a duccee. It made a massive difference and was a much nicer bike to ride. The hyperstrada doesn't need it removed. It's spot on as standard.
