Engine casing crack

hi
I have 2014 Hyperstrada with 11,000klm
Ever since i bought this bike the centre stand has been dragging every time you get any sort of lean angle on.
On recent ride i could feel the centre stand scraping and when i arrived at my destination and switched off ignition engine oil starting pouring out near the centre stand bracket.
Upon inspection there is a crack/fracture in the engine casing just above the mounting bracket.
Took the bike to Ducati and of course they asked do you have insurance ....i believe this should be covered in warranty. If the stand has been scraping since the day i bought it ...there is design issue with it , if they are saying the stand has caused the fracture surely that means it should be covered in warranty ????

Has anyone else had problems like this ???

Really appreciate your feedback .....

I lost a centre stand bolt about 5 weeks ago and I am still trying to get it covered under warranty. Your problem seems a lot worse than mine, so I wish you luck (I mean that in a nice way). I agree with you. It is not to hard to grind the centre stand. Cheers.

Thats wild man... a crack in the engine casing....Did the dealer contact Ducati USA about it?

engine crack

thanks for your replies ....i'm surprised as anyone when they told me the engine had crack in it...when i first seen the oil i thought it was loose filter or seal....then they pointed to the crack right about the point where the centre stand is connected with case.

Going into shop tomorrow to discuss ....i'm hoping there will be some warranty deal ...because if it has been caused by the stand hitting the ground ...that should be design flaw ..right ?
I mean what are they going to say ...you shouldn't be leaning the bike over!

1 month before this the whole screw came out and i had to zip tie the stand all the way home...

fyi : i bought the bike in Bangkok Thailand ....living here.

Good luck brother, just go in there and ask nicely first. If you think that you're not getting a fair shake then start to raise your voice. You can get more **** done if you yell and scream.

That's crazy. Yes, kick up a fuss. I removed the centre stand after riding it home for the first time, glad I did.

Contact Ducati directly.

yeah Duc Thailand have to send pictures and brief explanation to Ducati UK first to see if this can be a warranty issue ....one week waiting for their reply.
No bike and getting pissed off :)

Hang in there, they should take care of it. I'd be calling the dealer and constantly checking so they can keep bugging Ducati.

well...as i suspected Ducati said NO!
They refuse to admit its a design fault with the centre stand ....even though i have found loads of other also have scraping issues if you push it just little bit.

So its getting done on the insurance with me having to pay $1000 excess fee.
Ouch !

Needless to say the centre stand is coming off.

Cant wait to get it back next week and take her for long weekend blast full of twisties in Northern Thailand :)
