OK, coming from a 2010 KTM Duke 690, a clattery noisy beast, I sort of expected that the Ducati might be a little less noisy. I found it to have a similar level of engine noise, and an intoxicating level of exhaust noise.
Yesterday I put the Evotech radiator guard and the lower guard too. Not knowing what I was doing (in a brainfog moment) I accidentally loosened the valve cover bolt, but realized what I did once the oil started dripping. Doh!
So I snugged that up and got the rest of my farkles installed and rolled the bike back in the garage.
Tonight it was 59 degrees, and I needed to take a quick ride. So I started it up and rode off. I noticed a bit more clatter coming from the engine than I thought I'd noticed before, especially when taking off, under load... 2k to 4K maybe? Not at idle, or when revving in neutral. Granted I didn't have my earplugs in, but I'd ridden without them before and just don't recall hearing that particular sound. Kinda sounds like an engine does when the top end hasn't gotten oiled up yet.
Am I imagining it? Or, maybe having installed the engine guard has changed the harmonics or reflecting sound or something? I don't know.
My OCD is kicking in...
This is what I installed. But that's not my pic nor my bike. It's a pic of what I installed on my angelic white motorcycle.
