hi

just been away for weekend on bike and when returning home the engine warning light has come on and it is displaying "errors" on dash.
the light goes out on idle but as soon as I open the throttle it comes on and stays on until I close throttle and it returns to idle again.
when riding it is always on unless I stop and let it idle then it goes off
any ideas?

thanks

Throttle problem! When you have time go to your dealer to check the ECU for throttle faults! I'm sure you need ECU update is well.

update

Bike was picked up and taken to dealer, as they advised me not to ride bike.
2 weeks later the bike is fixed, new throttle sensor fitted, new dashboard fitted and mini sevice carried out to fix poor running problems.
All work done under warranty.
Bike getting delivered back to me today.

I really worry that one of these electrical gremlins is going to affect my bike... but right after the warranty is up.

It's these stories, like dash replacement, coils frying, throttle sensors flaking out, all that stuff that makes me think about trading the bike in before these things happen to me. Plenty of owners here have taken a depreciation hit and bailed on these bikes.

I where to a bit worried about them, so i got a 5 year warranty from the shop (included).
(They have a insurence for it).
Downside is, i need do have done all the service at that shop.
That in it self is not a problem as i would have done it there anyhow and they have been werry helpful with all my questions regarding the bike.

Plenty? Really? I've been here for more than a year and have seen maybe a dozen valid complaints. Ducati has sold thousands of these bikes. Forums tend to attract owners with problems, the 'silent majority' have none. And resale value is not one of my criteria for owning a bike...I buy what I want and tend to keep them. When I started riding nearly 50 years ago it was cheap transportation, not the case these days.

The best thing about bikes is you can pick up a podium bike from a couple seasons ago for nothing. If you buy any bike for resale value, better spend over 30K and keep it in the box.

Man. There's a air of dissatisfaction bubbling on this site.

"If it's got **** or wheels, it's gonna give you problems sooner or later" - no truer words were ever spoken (my apologies to any female riders in the forum).

This reminds me of when my sister bought the cheapest Mercedes in the lineup. She was constantly whining about all the problems it had. She thought the badge meant it was infallible. Vehicles work hard and stuff breaks. If there's a significant manufacturing issue, we'll find it and I have no doubt it will be remedied. Have you seen the power consumers have with vehicle recalls lately?!

Focker, out.

Bying a brand new model is always a "risk", so for me i want to make that risk as little as possible. To think that the risk is worth taking depends on how the dealer / brand will handle issues.
I for one think they handle it well.

I for one LOVE my bike. None of the current models and brand has the same package that my Hyper has.
Works well as commuter, fun on twisty roads, ok-good milages and have that little extra that encouraging me that it has more if i twist the throttle.
Insurance is actually good for a Hyperstrada (cost more if i would have the motard or sp version)
So some positivity :)

Sure, it can be improved but what bike cant and there is more and more aftermarket stuff to both "bling" and improve your bike.

same problem with me today...

When i was riding to my work my engine had 100C° and the engine light was on and errors on the display...

Now when i was driving back home engine had a temp of 75 driving and 100 standing still.

But no more ligth or erros on the dash.

will see what he will do next week ....

Hi Bruder

I dont feel any change on the throttle.
Now it was gone for a few days and now ith back.
When i am still at the traffic lights the errors is gone. when i am driving the erros is back.
My dealer said it is the trottle system that is broken so he ordered a new one.

I'm facing dashboard issue too. The error light will light up when moving around. The light will go off during stop. Updating ECU will help ? or the throttle sensors need to be replace :(

@icecy

you have a good chance the ECU update and erase the fault msg will fix the problem!

@MKeizerke

I don't think your dealer will get the whole trottle system, he need to be more exactly to Ducati what causing the problem!!
