First Impressions and Luggage Details

Great Photos from Canuck!!

Canuck, I will extend yet another thanks for posting those pictures--they were great!!

I am 6' 1" and about 225lbs so after seeing you on that bike I am a wee bit worried that I will be a tad cramped on that bike. I have a GSA for heavy touring and a Speed Triple 1050 for "fun stuff" including light touring but when I saw that Hyperstrada for the first time late last year I was very intrigued by it. I have always wanted a Ducati but was also intimidated by the complexity of the valve train systems and working on them myself. But at the 18000 mile valve check interval the bike just got moved up to the top of my want list!! I just wish the Strada came in Black too!!!!

Can't wait to see one myself here in Central Florida.

Thanks again!

Hey mjfields228 welcome to the forum, if you like it in black you could buy a black hypermotard and add the hyperstrada options. One thing I like about doing that is the red frame.

I was mulling that very thought over this morning! Or I can somehow hold off until 2014 to see what color offerings Ducati comes up with. Or break out the rattle can!!!

At least you have two other bikes and can wait for 2014. I sold my crotch rocket on january and been waiting eagerly for my white Hyperstrada. And if by any chance I dont like the hyper when I ride it the first time I have no clue what other bike I would buy. Dont like the tigers, bmws... Maybe the KTM but its a little to big for my liking.

You realize the red ones are faster than the white ones...

Ducati normally does red very sexy, but I don't like the color mismatch towards the trellis and rear end on the red model. Like many cars I've owned, I'm pretty partial to white with black accents.

This is the exact same problem I have, no plan B.

But I doubt I wont like it. It has more HP's and torque than my previous bike.
The riding position is improved as Im not leaning over the handelbars with all the weight on my wrists. And what I think is one of the biggest influence is that emblem on both sides that says "DUCATI":D

One part of me says the same thing "I allready know im going to like it"; but my other part does not want me to make a stupid mistake of overlooking something that would really bother me about the bike in a couple of months when the "anxiety/happines" of the brand new bike wears off a bit. Sometimes I see myself as an impulsive buyer and i dont really make that mistake with my first brand new bike

I made that mistake with my first bike, that was a far, far cheaper bike and it still "hurt" quite a bit come time to fix the error.

I'm pretty sure I'll like the bike, in fact I'm sure I will but whether it will work for me in the real world is a different question.

Guys i am 6'5 or 6 and 300 lbs. I currently ride a 08 gsxr 1000. I rode the Strada today and didnt think it was cramped compared to gixxer. The ride in the seat could be further back. I was disappointed to read that the stock seat won't fit. I want to verify that. The big concern is that likely means the Corbin seat won't fit it.

I put a deposit down. Riding a 1200 explorer tomorrow then will make final decision.

This gives me hope. My bike should be here in the next week or two, can't wait to eye ball it!

I havent tested the bike yet :-( so I have some question I hope can be claryfied.

How did the bike handle?
How was it on low speed?
Any Vibrations?

Any onformation would be nice to hear.
Thx

Oh and off topic a little but the panniers will hold a full face helmet try yours first to validate as they are different sizes.

Liam, check "Ride Reports" thread in main forum.

My techs went to work on sticky luggage today during 1st service. They filed the sharp edges off the teeth in the locking mechanism and added just a dab of graphite for lubrication. On/off is much better but still takes a slight pop on bottom to eject.

Oh, they also said bags, along with entire bike, is warrantied for 2 years. They made it sound very kosher to replace if they continue to stick.

Here's the thing, warranty clams help push the OEM to make changes so by all means for the betterment of us all make your warranty clams.

Seems like the panniers are missing the lock and waterproof for full city riding.

Also seems like they could further shorten the brackets for the panniers to make the side profiles even slimmer.
