Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what i need to disconnect in order to try this "fix" that seems to be very popular? I've heard its just a case of disconnecting a cable?

Does it throw up dash errors at all?

The couple of 20 page threads where lots of people have discussed it yes, but i am a Luddite and need a detailed step by step guide

It's very easy dude,
Two bolts hold the cover on, remove these
Your find a pulley underneath , rotate to give your self sum slack then just pop out the cable end , replace the cover , took me less than two minutes :)

Perfect thanks for this, do i need to do anything with the cable? Just leave it loose?

I think somebody posted a link to a youtube vid on how to disconnect the control servo near the ECU, which I'd also like to do because even though I disconnected mine as stated above, it still resets each time you turn ignition on. I know it's not turning anything but, just a needless step and it doesn't throw any codes if you do.

*clarification* - if you disconnect butterfly, the servo still moves, it's just not moving anything. It may have been confusing to some.

I removed the cable and motor too. Not that it really weighs anything, just cleans it up. And no more "WEEWOO" sound when you turn on the ignition.

Thanks for the help, I disconnected the cable at the weekend than went for a 120 mile ride to test it out whilst looking for a new summer jacket.

In all honesty i couldn't tell the difference! Maybe i don't do enough slow speed stuff to notice the change?

+1. It sounds the same to me, too. I just feel better knowing I have the flap disconnected.

It's just a noise/low rpm emissions tool. Maybe a bit louder at idle is all most agree on.

FYI, I recently tried disconnecting the servo from the ECU and it worked fine for a while, but the second time I fired it up I got a CEL and a 'black box' error code. Reconnected and the CEL cleared after a short ride.

I have a new 939 fwiw. I had read the 821s don't throw codes when you disconnect the servo electrically.

I might try disconnecting the servo mechanically and see if that works. The added engine noise at part throttle is very nice [emoji12]

Welp, did the mechanical disconnect and the CEL is back after my first ride.

Everything sounds and feels so much smoother at low rpm. Basically makes on throttle transition much smoother as removing the flap lessens the engine braking effect it seems. Now I just need to figure out how to get the benefit without the check engine lights.

That's too bad, the 821's didn't have any troubles with CELs after unplugging and removing the entire servo motor.

If you're still set on removing it, you'll want to find or make one of these: vizi-tec - Ducati exhaust valve eliminator

Duc.ee module fixed it!

In case anyone was wondering; Yes the duc.ee module eliminated the error!

So stoked to have that yellow light off and my smooth throttle response back. Bernard went above and beyond to make sure I had the right part, as he had never sold one for a 939! He has since added the 939 to the list of bikes with available modules.

Has anyone else had the CEL with their 939? So far mine is the only report I've seen...
