Switched from a Hypermotard 1100s to a Hyperstrada 821. I'am the administrator of the Dutch Facebook group of the Hypermotard and Hyperstrada (Dutch Ducati Hypermotard & Hyperstrada Group) Had the HM for a couple of years but it was time for something new. But the Hyper is such a great bike thats why I decide for the HS. I have to get used that the real Duc sound had disappeared with the Strada. But the rest is perfect. Now waiting for the good weather. It's winter in the Netherlands

Congratulations. You will like the 821 but it sure does ride different. Get the RPM up and it lights right up. I also have a air cooled SS and love the sound and torque but the Multi and Hyper that I have are just wonderful in a different Ducati sort of way. At first I was a bit dissapointed with the new engines but they have grown on me. They don't have the visceral sound and low end torque of the air cooled but rip in the higher RPM ranges. The 821 does like its RPM's. ;)

Welcome.

Same story for me with my 900 Monster and the Hyper. They both have character, but in their own ways.

I used to have an 1100. The HS is far more refined and a lot more useful... but definitely not as cool.

I was always mystified by Ducs, riding nothing but Japanese sport bikes.

But I would have never bought an air cooled Duc twin with that power output and 9000 mi desmo service interval. The 821 motor was what really sold me.

Yeah, reliability and practicality have never been their priorities.

They say form follows function but that is not the case with Ducatis.
