..and hopfully fixing the 'double pump' requirement on the M/C..

I'm no stranger to bleeding brakes, but have never worked with an ABS system before.

Has anyone that has done this worked according to the manual or have you found more effective method(s)? Also, have you found a way to fix that 'double pump' issue so you get full braking power on the first pull?

Bleeding helps, but it doesn't fix it, and it will come back in short order.

It's a combination of small amounts of air in the system as well as the caliper seals pulling the pistons back too far after you release the lever.

As far as bleeding, I did it same as normal non-abs and it seemed to work fine.

Ah ****, so there's no permanent fix known as yet? I thought I'd read somewhere that someone had found a way...

Thanks kuksul!

One guy was so frustrated with it he replaced his entire brake system. It wasn't until he replaced the calipers that it got better.

You will get more solid results if you push the pistons in. This will clear the ABS circuit. Then, after bleeding, I tied the lever in for a few hours. Eventually - months later, the double pump will come back. Time for another bleeding.

For what it's worth, 899 Panigale owners have exactly the same issue with their brakes. Common parts shared between the two Ducati models include the Brembo 4.32 calipers and Bosch ABS module. You'll find plenty of discussion and suggested solutions at Ducati 899 Panigale Forum.
Me? I've simply gotten used to the double pump method with my 899. Makes me feel like one of those V8 Supercar (Australasia's version of NASCAR) drivers who always give the whoa pedal a pump while they're still on the gas on the approach to a corner to bring the brakes up to pressure. So I'll feel right at home when the Hyperstrada finally arrives on that slow boat from Italy.
