The DP filter cover is not sold anymore. I was thinking of getting this as an alternative. Did you guys contact him via FB or is there any online store? And does the stock filter fit?

Even when they sold the DP filter kit, it was impossible (for me) to find. I would scour all DP and OEM suppliers and could never locate it. Got lucky in the classifieds one day. Looking at your profile pick, I'm assuming you check all the popular HyperMotard sites for somebody selling one.

You contact him Giuseppe Starace directly on facebook. His web page is taking forever to get up and running. He even has a new version past the V2 (I believe). It includes some new velocity stacks. It houses the OEM filter but it is highly recommended to install an aftermarket filter(same size as OEM). He is now partnered with Sprinter filters which allows him to packaged deal the assembly and filter cheaper than buying separate. I have not installed the shorter velocity stacks but I intend on trying them. Tremi also recognizes his intake system now and offer various maps for the various configurations you can run. I intend on trying that t800 map back to back with my rapidbike tuner amd reporting my findings...

Just ordered one myself. Seem's like he's gotten things a bit more organized, though I'm worried the recent virus outbreak might mess up shipping. Bikes almost due for valves so I might see if I can talk the dealer into dropping this in while they're doing the work. Otherwise I can do it myself but it sounds like it's a bit of a PITA to get to the airbox.

Getting to the airbox is ridiculous on this bike. I was even more pissed when I saw a 2014 Monster DIY and the guy just popped the tank up to get to the airbox. Some will say it's not that bad. I very much disagree. Wait till you see how dirty that filter is and how much effort you have to exert to get to a low-cycle maintenance item. I'd rather crack the gearbox or change a sprocket over removing the tank.
Yeah, I'm dreading it but given the bike is nearing 18k and has only been serviced by the dealer I'm certain the air filter and spark plugs have not been checked or changed. I kinda don't actually trust the dealer to do it based on some previous crap they have pulled, but they are good at warranty work so I'll likely have them do it. Given the current situation in Italy I have a feeling I might not see my airbox for a while, though I'm not sure if Giuseppe is near any or the impacted areas or not. If you did the hydraulic clutch conversion and thing getting to the airbox is a pain I'm worried as I don't think I'd be comfortable doing the clutch on my own.

I believe you will be seeing a difference in shipping and availability times very soon. He has many new products coming out. 1 of which is a (in the R&D phases now) light weight subframe for the 950 that looks similar to the 950 concept and the 821/939 aluminum piece . But I believe it might be made of carbon fiber (dont quote me on that). He is getting a pre order limited run list now. Plus. He is moving from Italy to Texas. With him in the states things will be more consistent due to the limited strikes and what not.
I'm not too worried I order some other parts from Italy and so I'm aware of how the Italian postal service operates 
I do suspect things will be slowed due to the current situation there. I'm still waiting for a 939 compatible T800 device anyway and will be doing chain / sprockets / shiny bits this weekend so no rush. Worst case I'll get the T800 with a stock map and buy a separate map once I get his airbox cover. I'm definitely ready for smoother low end power :-D

Is this new intake cover strictly for performance? Or for another purpose as well? I just opened my airbox after 12k and found a bunch of sand in it.....I was wondering if the stock fitting was poor and a common problem. Or it could be the DP filter was poorly installed.

That is the nature of the location of the filter. Specifically using a Sprinter air filter will eliminate the sand getting past the filter but sand will collect in the filter itsself. The location of these filters are almost like making it a bucket. The Sprinter material is said to be waterproof as well as sand cant get past them. The cotton gauze filters will let water and sand(to a certain extent) past due to the material used. The V2 Starace has the added velocity finn's that help prevent contamination bit at the end of the day the assembly is focused on performance and you will still get some debris. To help combat the issue. Under the steering tube you will see the frame welded in a triangle. The center of that triangle is a direct path for debris coming off the front tire up to the air filter. If you are riding in rain or dirt roads you could put a piece of tape over that triangle. It definitely helps. I dont do it all the time, only when I plan on extended time in dirt or rain.
