Tail Light Cover cracks!

last week i changed my tail light due to cracks in the tail light cover! I found out that the top Metal part is pushing aginst the light cover! So if you use your bags and you have a back-seat driver it can be to Heavy and the cover can break! Not good :mad:

Check your tail Light Cover;)

Martin,

you want a picture from the cracked cover? When you checking the cover you can see were the metal is pushing against the tail light cover!

Sorry no picture I'm not at home for the next few days:(

lost in translation?

Gruess Bruder,

I am confused. What does carrying a passenger or the saddlebags have to do with the headlamp cover? Are you actually referring to the taillight? (Am hinten?)

Yes "hinten" the Metal frame ist coming closer to the tail light cover when you have the bage and a Co driver on your bike more weight! Check it out the the space between the metal above the head light cover is almost gone!

Sorry Guys it's the Tail Light cover I'm talking about! I Hope now is better to understand!

Your English is a heck of a lot better than my German! I have not had anyone to practice with since my Mom passed away over ten years ago.

I just checked my bike and no cracks. And when I carry my wife on the back her butt actually hangs over onto the metal cover. She is not fat, but there is not much room back there!

Has that cover/grab rail ever been removed? Are all the fastenings in place and tight? I'd take a good look at the one that connects the two sides together. The parts list shows all the fastenings. And have you carried a heavy load on the rack? Perhaps the Ducati load limit has something to do with this as well as high speed stability.

Good luck!

@zippy49,

it,s difficult to see where the crack is starting, you have to remove the taillight before you can see where it's starts! You only can see the end result when it's cracked already.
I don't carry a heavy load on the rack at all, therefore I'm surprised!:confused:
Well i will see how the second taillight is behaving!
