Hello!

Bought my Hyperstrada (2014 in red) last December.
Traded in my Multistrada because the Multi needs too much speed to have fun which earned me a reasonable speeding fine last year. Now knowing the Hyper a bit better I think I will have more fun but being less fast will be a challenge ...

I use my bike for commuting, fun tours and holidays in the alps.
My bike history is: Kawa Z650 / Honda CBF 1000 / Ducati MTS 1200S / Hyperstrada

Best regards from sunny Berlin
Stefan

PS
By the way - this is a nice forum - very friendly people!

Welcome along Canto!

I agree this is a very nice forum - the members here all seem quite mature in attitude. Very unlike the UK forum I joined for my CBR1000RR. which was quite the polar opposite to this place.

I test rode the Multi when looking at the Hyper, I can imagine how you got into your speeding ticket predicament quite easily! The laziness of the bigger V-Twin is very unlike the fast spinning 821!!

Look forward to having you around!

What....A speeding ticket in Germany! I thought you guys are more lenient over there.

only about 50% of "Autobahn" are free of speed limit. Other 50% have 130 km/h or less limit.
Country roads have maximum 100 km/h, very easy to be a lot too fast there ;).
And also a lot of radar, lidar and optical speed measurments.

It's nearly as terrible as Austria, except in Austira we do not have "Autobahn" without limits :p

Those Autobahn's are pretty great though - it's quite a feeling overtaking a police car at 130+ mph. I don't think there's anywhere else in the world you could pull that off, to my knowledge..

Owning Ducati's in the same town BMW assembles their bikes...love it!
I was born in Stuttgart, last visited Berlin in the 70's during the height of the Cold War. Going across that border at der Mauer into East Berlin is something I'll never forget. The East Berliners seemed like nice people, but they were scared shitless to talk to an American. At least in a public place.

You're right, it's crazy. You see us Germans are not always so patriotic. ;)
BMW has never won my heart so far. Although the new GS 1200 LC and the S1000R are quite nice (drove them on Mallorca last year) and definitely worth a test ride.

Sometime you'll have to revisit your origin country. The East Germans will speak to you now (but I am from West :)).

Well, I don't know how it is in your country. Make up your own mind:
  • Country road outside town, 28 km/h too fast.
  • Fine: 120 Euro, 1 point (you'll lose your license with 8 points - or temparily if you do the same again within 12 months)
The police officer was quite kind though.

I don't mind limits on the Autobahn (speeding there is boring for me) but I do mind that winding roads are more and more limited to ridiculously low speed.

Welcome to teh forum! Enjoy the unique Hyper madnes :)
To your issue of getting tickets on the Multi, I get it. I have driven all over the world. No where have I felt safer than on German roads. I do admidt to being terribly annoyed at the very low speeds set through some rural roads. Still, not as bad as going through Wisconsin small towns, 20 MPH!!!
