I just bought my Hyperstrada Saturday, April 26th. By the time all the paperwork was done, the day was half over and the winds were getting pretty strong. >25 mph and gusting to 40+ mph.
I spent pretty much the rest of the day riding anyway and the bike and I handled the wind without too much effort. I had a passenger at first that complained of being very uncomfortable. I called someone to pick her up with my car. While she was on, I also wasn't very comfortable. My pants kept tightening up between the legs. After she was off, I was able to adjust more easily while riding to avoid that issue.
My only complaints about this model are the lack of a gear indicator (available here - Healtech GiPro Gear Indicator for Ducati) and that the seat is not as soft as I would like. I can't find a solution for the seat issue.
I want to warn anyone that doesn't have much riding exp. Be very careful with the throttle until you are used to the bike. I pulled my front tire up a few times without meaning to.

It is raining pretty much all week, but I can't wait to get out and ride some more as soon as the rain stops.

:D

keep it in urban or touring setting - sport will pop up the front for sure. I have had similar issue with pants! Thought it was just me. Turns out it is my Bilt jeans - when I switch to my Dainese pants no problem. I think the denim sticks to the seat.

+1 on all of the above. I almost always wear full leathers on my Strada, no problems with comfort then. Are your Dainese pants leather or fabric? It's getting hot here, so I'm thinking of getting some pants to match my mesh ADV jacket. But I am too tall and skinny for everything I've seen so far.

Thanks for your replies.

I am still looking for comfortable protective riding gear that will fit me and not break the bank. It seems to be difficult to find since I am short (5' 8") and stocky (190 lbs evenly distributed).

my Dianese are the Drake Air Tech. They have a 'euro' fit for sure. The vents at the knees work great. I bought them at Pure Ducati - if you register they give you a pretty good discount (about $40) just make sure they have them in stock - I had to wait a long time.

Here are a few options that I am considering for jackets (the weather will usually be dry and fairly warm, 65 - 90 F, on days that I will be riding:

Icon Mens Brawnson Textile Street Motorcycle Jacket
Scorpion Torque Textile Street Jacket
Joe Rocket Reactor 2.0 Leather Jacket
SPEED & STRENGTH Twist of Fate 3.0 Textile Jacket
ICON CONTRA MOTORCYCLE TEXTILE JACKET (Red)

(These are all on Ebay, but I have found them at online motorcycle stores too. It's just that I can find all the styles in one place on Ebay.)

Any thoughts on these jackets?

Rev'it seems to offer a good product. I like the Spectrum as an ADV style, but there are many other closeouts available online. My leathers have some vents, but when riding in traffic on an 85 degree day I would rather wear a textile/mesh combo. Not too cheap and not too much mesh so it has some body. The pads need to stay put! My Chinese-made Olympia jacket is very comfortable, but at the low end of acceptable both price and safety-wise.

The jackets you chose would not suit me. The first is all hype (exactly what is it made from?), and I don't like wearing big commercial logos on my clothing. Now, if they were paying me...
