High speed vibration?

I am about to buy the bike, but have never rode it.

Right now have a psnigale v4 23

I have heard single cilinder engines tend to vibrate al high speeds ( 90 miles and above)

Is it true for this bike ?

This is a Supermoto style bike with short gearing, cruising at 90 mph is in the middle of the rev range in 6th gear. Besides the gearing, the wind resistance above 80 mph for this bike is terrible, it is supermoto style and the aero is not designed for high speed cruising. At 90 mph if you’re not fully tucked your body is acting like a parachute and you won’t be concerned with vibrations you’ll be too busy trying to hang on!

Rodolfo,

The propagation and sense of vibes is highly dependent on structural resonances, for which the intensity varies (up and/or down) across the RPM range. Should have nothing to do with speed, unless it’s an imbalance in the final drive train (wheels, etc.)

Various things can be done to modify those structural resonances if they are an issue for you; including bar end weights, visco-elastic bar dampers, gel seats, putting the rubber foot peg inserts back in, getting better boots, etc.

My KTM 690 was supposedly notorious for vibes. I never noticed.

I occasionally do feel some harsh buzz in the 698’s grips, pegs, and seat. I think it’s more in the 5-7k RPM range. Can’t say I ever noticed it over 80, 90, 100 mph. :)

Thanks man

Yes, that is what I wanted to hear.

I am a custom to vibrations, but I wanted to know if it was something serious, or just normal, like most bikes

The vibes remind me of my old Yamaha RZ350 and also a Yamaha R3 that I took for a test drive, but maybe a little harsher at some RPMs.

I was a little surprised to have any vibes, after listening to all the 698 release-related press hype about the “doppia bieletta” on the original supermono, but it’s pretty minor.
