So, I'm currently still deployed but I should be home next month and I have money burning a hole in my pocket (not really but I like to think I have a couple bucks to spend).

I've been lurking here since Feb? Waiting for the bikes to arrive and read your opinions and now that I have the Hyperstrada sounds like an awesome bike. A good all-rounder.

My question is, is it good enough to be your only bike? Commuting? I'm sure it's great. Touring? probably decent. Two- up riding? questionable?

I'm 6'3" and 250lbs. How far can my wife and I ride comfortably if at all?

I'm sure a test ride when I get home will answer all these questions but I don't have much patience!

Two up should be fairly comfy, even more so with center luggage kit out back. It is a very light bike however, so you'll have to crank the rear suspension up a lot, depending on weight of pax.

I personally wouldn't want to travel above 65 for very long as buffeting above 70 is strong. You could hack it but would probably wear you out fast.

Two up? ummm depending on the size of your wife, it is going to be questionable at best. Even if your wife is petite ~100 lbs, you will still most likely need a suspension change to some heavier springs. Also, just you at 6'3" and 250, you may find yourself a bit cramped, not uncomfortable, but is is a small bike.

Definitely ride the Multistrada as well. The new 2013 Sky Hook suspension is amazing. If a 2013 Multi is more than your budget can handle, there are some great deals on leftover multi's. If budget is not a concern, get one of each, that's what I did. :)

I have to agree with Wildbill, you might fit the Multistrad better. I'm 5-8 @ 160 lbs and the Hyperstrada fits me well. I honestly feel if anyone is larger than me they may find the Hyperstrada a little cramped. But give it a try and see what you think. Good luck with your choice.

Thanks for the info. all.

I'm leaning more and more towards the MTS1200. Funny thing is, I had a used 2011 MTS1200 lined up a few days ago. Low miles for $10K. Talked to the owner via email and since I'm deployed for a few more weeks he said he'd hang on to it for me. The next day he emails me and says it's sold. Talk about pissed. Oh well.

be nice if there was a tax free deal on Duc's, like they do for HD's and some cars while deployed.
