Intermittent error on dash

Hi guys,

I just started to get an intermittent error on the dash when riding the hyper. It comes on randomly but when I stop to check the error, it disappears.

I tried to cruise under 20km/h and try to catch the error while riding but with no success.

I called the dealer and they said it's the battery and I should come in for a replacement. However, the battery is about 13 months old and I use a battery tender when I don't ride it for over a week.

Any pointers would be very much appreciated.

Thanks!

Victor

Year/ Model?

Are the "DTC" or "ABS" lights flashing as well? Those will flash with a "-" sign where the setting normally is if the ECU is getting valid readings for either system.

If you have a 2013-2014, could be the throttle position sensor or ECU software update, if they weren't performed previously. I'd get an error and limp mode occasionally before all those updates on my 2013.

Someone with a Monster 821 had this issue. It was their clutch cable bumping their throttle unit connector and causing a bad connection. Worth checking that connnector is all good. Unplug it and replug it. It's right in front.

Sorry, it's a 2015 Hypermotard 'low model'

No other lights flashing other than the engine light and 'error' which then disappears when I stop to check it.

Thanks for the tip! I will take a look and try tomorrow :)

Hi Guys,

Just to report that the bike is back from the dealer, they replaced the whole throttle assembly and replaced the grips on both sides :)

The bike rides so much differently now and it's so much nicer. I didn't realize that the past 2 years my throttle was acting up, just got used to it until the error light started to pop up and the codes got stored in the ECU.

Cheers!
