hi guys! im about to join the ducati family"¦

here is my dilemma, i first fell in love with the 821 hyperstrada and negotiated a pretty good price with my local dealer, the bike will be available next week for purchase"¦

Then i looked at the new monster 821, and liked it a lot as well, it will not be available for sale for at least another 4 month here in China. Price will be a bit cheaper than the strada"¦

i love both bike, the strada is more versatile with its pannis and more upright position, the monster is better more the streets and imo looks awesome especially the new display(same as 899)!

so fellow ducati riders, please help me decide which bike should i get?

Too simple...take both....best of both worlds. I'm sure they would do a deal for volumne:D

Can't go wrong with the 821 engine. Monster will filter better, if you plan to do a lot of city rides.

A hard choice. Three things - timing, seating position, and typical use. Only the HS is available now, so if you want to ride this summer, you need the HS.

Seating and riding setup is different, and only you can say which fits your preferences better. For me, I really like to sit more upright, but that's me. Pity you can't sit on them in the same showroom yet.

Finally, how and where you expect to do your riding is a factor. For longer trips the HS had storage and more relaxed seating. I also like the HS in the city the best of all bikes I have had. But, if you will ride mostly on the city, maybe the Monster is even better for squeezing between cars, etc.

i mostly will be riding out of the city! the city traffic is just too packed! btw, the strada is pretty narrow with panniers off, isnt it?

When I sat on the Monster, I noticed that the exhaust interfered with my leg. Could get pretty hot in traffic. Plus I like the Strada's riding position better.

But then, who doesn't defend their choices? :D:D:D

HS is more practical and offers a better seating position. I don't like to be hunched over.

I've driven both.

-Riding position is different. Got a sour neck with the Monster after few hours of city driving as I always have to look up. With the Hyperstrada; nothing to complain yet... after almost two years.

The gear box is geared for higher speed (asphalt only) for the Monster. Once your out the low speed it feel proper. The Hyper feel a tad more comfortable (though sometime difficult to tame) at low speed but it defenitively takes avantages of it's offroad abilities. The starts are great with the Hyper it easily take the lead.

I've owned a few Monsters and found them to be pretty useless compared to the HyperStrada. Just the bags alone... you can go grocery shopping with the Hyper. Good luck doing that on a Monster.

well i had the 2014 Hyper 821 SP ,I decided [mistake ] on trading in on the 2014 monster 1200S . Don't get me wrong , The monster is a great ride but i missed my SP too much as that is just the type of riding i like . .I guess it depends on the type of riding your going to do too . Everything about the SP just works perfectly for me . So i traded in my monster for the new 2015 SP . Im very happy with my decision to go back to the SP . Its probably the most enjoyable bike I've ever ridden , and I've had a lot of bikes [33]. I lost 500.00 bucks on the trade back . I know the owner of the dealer so they took care of me
