Hi guys, I live in England and currently ride a 2013 Honda Fireblade.

Still awake? Okay then, I'll continue :)

The Blade was my perfect bike, until I test ride a few upright bikes and I'm starting to think I prefer the seating position. It's not that I get cramps that bad on the Fireblade it's just it feel unnatural. The Hyperstrada would probably be more pillion friendly too, the Mrs refuses to ride with me on the Blade.

I test rode a Hyperstrada last week and have almost decided to make the switch.

Just wondered if other people have gone from a 1000cc sports bike to a Hyperstrada and how did they find it.

Only thing I am worried about is I will miss the extra power.

Cheers

The Hyperstrada is more pillion friendly, but not by much. My wife won't get on the back of the 'blade either - she says the shape of the pillion seat is tortuous to the female genitalia.

But when it comes to the 'strada, I've had a couple of people on the back and they all comment that you can't properly hold the grab handles - you end up sitting on and crushing your fingers. Compared to my old VFR, which was perfect for pillions, the 'strada ain't that great.

I suspect you will miss the extra power. The 'strada is great - on a 5 hour ride in the Cotswolds this weekend it was immensely more comfortable that the 'blade - only my *** hurt after 2 hours, rather than my whole body. However when it comes to more fast road stuff the 'strada does run out of puff.

For pure thrills and challenging the laws of physics - the 'blade every time.

For comfort, great fun and practicality - the 'strada.

I couldn't decide between the two myself. In fact I couldn't imagine life with only one bike...

Thanks a lot for the reply. I also had a VFR before the blade which my Mrs loved for pillion. Maybe I'll just have to get a cheap VFR to compliment the Blade. :)

Above 85 mph, it rides like a refrigerator. Front end is scary light and prone to flap above 100. It's just not meant to go really fast. The engine runs out of steam or struggles with the bad aero in that range, too.

Ya know, I thought I would get bored of the engine pretty quick, too. The down low grunt and throaty growl is stupid fun in normal urban settings. It will pop the wheel and spin the rear with ease. And it actually winds out a bit. It's a gem of an engine. I hope they continue to build it up.

I have ridden a few 1000's and never really thought the extra power was anything I could use on the street. The Strada has so much usable power I don't see the point of a 1000cc bike.

May I recommend some other bikes to look at that are close to the Strada or closer to the blade? Not really knowing your budget or how second hand bikes are priced in your area.....
Triumph Street Triple 675 (I had one before the HS, AWESOME bike!!!)
Triumph Speed Triple 1050
Aprillia Tuono (either V-twin or V4)
Ducati Multistrada
Ducati Diavel (Insanely cool and SUPER comfy, 160hp superbike engine with cruiser comfort. Boring is the very last word I would use to describe it)

Maybe a Japanese naked like a CB1000R, Z1000, Ninja 1000, GSX1000

I too went from a 12 reg repsol blade to a Hyper never regretted it at all. You will have more fun up to 100 than you will ever have at any speed on the blade. Off the bottom of throttle it is INSTANTANEOUS much quicker up to 5000 rpm than my current bike 14 tuono. Fab on fuel too cruise all day at 80 gets sixty plus mpg. Admittedly pillion is short front to back and unless you and pillion smallish not ideal if you do a lot of two up. Went for the test ride and sitting g on it felt like windscreen was embedded in my teeth, thought this is ridiculous, an hour later was amazed how much fun it was depending on riding styles this bike will not fail to thrill.
