Whatever it is, definitely not stock. Custom seat, maybe it's heated? Could also be connected to the batter as a means to cut power entirely to prevent parasitic drain when the bike is sitting for a long time?

Not very well hidden if some sort of anti-theft. Did you try starting with the switch in both positions?
that is a pretty good mystery.. i'm about to put a switch on mine to shut off the headlight.
i bought the bike with a headlight bulb out but the parking lights work (like drl's) i like it (and it passed inspection with them). i actually didnt know it was a problem until i rode it at night and thought "this thing has the worst lights ever"
so i'm gonna put a new bulb in and a switch to turn off the light.

Thanks for all the replies, I've tried switching whist running and before running, no change as far as I can tell. I've been busy riding or working this week so will try and follow the wires this weekend.
Now that would be useful. Problem is, for me it would need to unlock a mortice lock, pull four bolts out of concrete and swing two big doors open.
