Hey everyone! I just purchased a 2015 Hyperstrada yesterday. Got it at the Dealer in Daytona Beach florida, and rode it back home to Atlanta yesterday. Love the bike!

I do have a couple questions already.

1. is there a trick to getting it on the centerstand? I'm not a body builder, but I'm also not a weakling, and I have trouble. the stand wants to slide backwards and not bite into the ground so I can lever it up. i eventually can get it up there but it seems like it should be a lot easier.

2. the brake lever adjustment seems odd. #4 position should be the closest to the grip, but on my bike #2 is closest. is there a way for that to be assembled incorrectly?

3. I'm ALREADY due for my first oil change....is it true that the indicator can only be reset by a dealer or can I do that myself? I would like to do oil changes myself and let the dealer do the difficult services.

4. the manual mentions using the starter button to control heated grips...anyone had them installed after the fact, or diy them?

here are a few pictures. picked it up in daytona, rode the a1a up to st augustine, stopping for breakfast along the way, and then took a long, chilly freeway ride home. about 10 hours on the road all together.

Hi there and welcome! I trust you will enjoy riding your new HS.

1. If you just get both legs of the centerstand to touch ground, and then stand on the tang that sticks out on left side, it should pop up on the stand quite easily. I had an 860 GT that was truly a bear to get on the stand. The HS is really very easy to get on the centerstand in comparison.

2. Sounds weird, but I guess something could be backwards in the brake lever assembly. I have not heard of that problem before.

3. Yes, I think only the shop can reset your service indicators. Didn't really make sense to me that you would be due for service already - maybe talk to your dealer.

4. I don't have heated grips, but there are plenty of people on here that do, I expect.

The first service is at 600 miles....I put over 450 coming home yesterday, and it had a few demo miles on it.

thanks for the rest, I'll practice with the centerstand. I'll also work play with the brake lever some more this weekend. that one is odd. maybe I'll have the dealer look at it when i get the oil lights done!
 
yes, heated grips are switched on/off with starter button when motor is already running. pressing button brings heated-grip menu on display and each press of the button switches to the next entry of off/low/medium/high .
setting is also remembered for next start, so it stays on the last setting.

1. I'm pretty small, so I struggle a little with the Center Stand as well.. I found going up was easier after I put a little skate board grip tape on the pad that you press with your foot. I kept slipping off. Make sure you firmly hold the bike as you're pushing down.. Last thing you need is your foot slip, loose grip on the bike and have it laying flat on its side.

Coming off the stand is a little more challenging for me. How I do it is I'll have the normal side stand down. I'll stand on the RH side of the bike with one finger hovering on the front brake lever. Rock the bike forward pushing on both sides of the bars.. As soon as the bike feels like it's moving, I'll apply the front brake and slowly release pressure while pushing forward until it's all the way down.

Side stand is down as a fail safe if I loose grip in the bike, it can't fall towards me, and if it falls away, then the side stand "should" catch it.

2. The dot on the brake lever on mine indicates 4 is closest to the bar, and 1 is furthest away.

3. I think to turn off the light it's a dealer only function :(

4. Heated grips if you installed them yourself (which I did) won't be activated (won't work) until the dealer activates them.. Try to get that done at your first service.. They're gonna be there anyways turning off the light.. It's one more click for them to activate the grips.

so push down with the foot thing...do you lift on the bars only or grab the rear rack and lift/push back?
 
My lever was weird like that too, seems like one or four should be the extremes instead of the No two position!:confused: I put some aftermarket ones on that I like better, more adjustment and a better bend.

Which aftermarket levers did you choose? I have looked, but not pulled the trigger yet. I would like mine much closer to the grip for 1-2 finger usage, and top class fit and finish.

Hold the left handlebar grip with left hand, hold the rear rack with your right hand.. Step on center stand foot spot lightly with your right foot until you feel both feet touch ground.. Then push down hard with your right foot.. Bike will come up quickly

and for levers, on my street triple about three years ago I bought the cheap-o ebay anodized levers, and they have held up beautifully for thousands of miles. and at the price point, you can buy several sets of pazzos or the like!
 
Speaking of levers, make sure that the hollow in the clutch handle where the clutch cable is fixed is well lubed. The round plug at end of cable must be able to rotate slightly as you pull the clutch lever in. If it’s dry there you will snap the cable over time.

A friend of mine have a Speed Triple R which I've tried for a bike swap ride. These bikes are incredibly crisp and precise. Two different bikes with different personalities. Good choice.
 
Yeah I was going to compliment on the garage full of personal activities.. Everything from excellent autoX, street hooligan, highway sleeper and a nicely organized shop to house them all.. You my friend have done it right.

I got these from MC Motoparts on ebay but I did not get the short ones, I got the regular size but they still have the same bend. They are built well compared to some $200 ones I've seen, of course the more expensive ones are nicer but these are good enough for me. They shipped them pretty quick from Hong Kong, I had them within a week, maybe less. I think on ebay all of the ones you see are made by the same factory, just different exporters. They fit well and have a great finish.

This. And make sure both feet of the stand are touching the ground when you start.
 
Two updates - with all your help I figured out the center stand deal....I was trying to lift the bike vs really stand on the center stand pad.

On the brake lever - lets just say I'm a dummy and it is just fine. Or I should look more closely at the adjuster knob ....
