I'm wondering what sprockets people have used when it came time on their HyperS?

TIA,
Eric

I am considering going down some teeth. I am averaging 20mpg with highway commuting.. I cruise around 85mph, so..

I change the rear sprocket from 45 to 41.
At 85 mph the rpm is 550 lower. Suites me fine.
The 5th gear is now as the previous 6th gear.

Today i changed front sprocket to 14t and now i have max. 8500 rpm (limiter). Tomorrow i change back and will see, if it will be normal..

That is really bad fuel economy. I "crash" down to 45MPG when I average 80 on the interstates. Normally I'm averaging 54MPG when I'm going a more reasonable 60-70MPH.

jerdog,

Did you put in a 14T up front to make 1st and 2nd gear less "twitchy"?

TIA,
Eric

Howdy!

I would not say the 14 tooth make is any less twitchy but you could ride it and judge for yourself. I put the 14 tooth on for more bottom end and a better launch off the line which it seems to have done. I avoid the highway at all costs but the RMS are noticeably more at say 80 mph but not disgusting IMO.

I've noticed the 5-6% increase in the displayed speed on the speedometer. The dealer spoke with their Ducati tech and was told that it cannot be adjusted. Has anyone figured out a combination of changing gears and tires that can accommodate for the 5-6%?

You would need to change tires if you wish to accomplish that. No combination of gears will ever adjust your speedometer reading. I suspect that it reads the speed off of the CANbus from the ABS system.
