Hi I'm David, living in Fairfax, VA (near Washington, D.C.).
Rode to Winchester Va. this past weekend to Duc Pond motorsports to look at a Multistrada. Bike seemed big to me (versus photos) and after my comment to this effect, the sales mgr introduced me to the Hyperstrada. I loved the bike! It was too late in the day for a test ride, but I told him I would come back another day to ride both the Hyper and the Multi (with my real interest being the Hyperstrada).
But after joining the forum yesterday and reading about all the problems that Hyperstrada owners are experiencing, I'm not going back. Quality and reliability are huge issues in today's market. Who wants to pay for a premium brand only to be angered and frustrated with repeated quality/repair issues as part of the new ownership experience? Reading about the Hyperstradra quality issues reminds me of a quote I read from a Ducati Rider when the Multistrada was first introduced. He said something to the effect that "with all those electronics and a Ducati engine, the bikes will be in the shop more than they'll be ridden."
I'll just keep my 2006 BMW R1200RT Sport Tourer and my 2007 Buell Lightning 1200 TT. Too bad 'cause I loved the size, performance and riding possibilities associated with the Hyperstrada. But I'm too old and too impatient to deal with quality issues.
