Others having issue with side stand?

A minor irritant at this point considering how fun this bike is overall, but are others finding the sidestand a pain to deploy (Hyperstrada but I assume it's the same on the motard)?

If so any ideas on how to improve?

Thanks
Frederic

Find the center stand with your heel and just go below it for the side stand. Pretty easy once you get the knack of it

Thanks - well - it must be me then :)

Perhaps this means I need to ride longer and stop less often!

If your short like me it is a pain. I'm on my toes so it's a balancing act. I removed the center stand since I don't use it anyway and have a paddock stand if I need to pull the wheel. It made it much easier to deploy the side stand.

yeah, it sucks. Mine is a daily driver and I'd say half the time I stick it without hunting. I wondered if some extension would work but I've already drug the toe of my boot on a right turn...

I have the same issue . I can easily find the stand with my toe but when I flick it forward, my leg catches on the footrest. Maybe because I wear over the boot trousers/pants?

I will add a small extension to the stand at some point

Hi short arse here too I also struggled at first as with all other bikes I always just used the underneath most rearward part of the heel but now use the ball of my foot and do it all in one motion hope this helps

I have an issue as well.
Im gonna check in a shop see if they can weld a little peg on to help me.
Ill post when the work is done!

It's busy down there between the centrestand, footrest, and kickstand! I've tried my toe and my heel and so far the heel works best.

30-inch inseam here and it's a struggle half the time, especially when the right side of the road is sloping/cambered downward and i tiptoe on my right foot while my left fumbles for the sidestand

florenz, any pics/update on the modification you did?

If you push back the footrest with your calf your heel should get to the side stand ok. Works for me

yeah, I just kick my heel back till I make contact and then sweep forward/down. Usually kicks footrest back and catches the stand. Boots with raised heels seem to help.

I have to wear big, clunky steel toe boats to work, which helps. I recommend some riding boots. They cover the ankle bones and most have a reinforced toe pad that aides shifting. My toes would get sore when I rode in sneakers back in the day.

I use the same method which works a treat and I always ride in full protective gear, including motorcycle boots and the heels certainly help.

Here's what you can do for easier access to the side stand. Take a piece of 3/4-inch thick solid rubber, cut a strip about 4 inches long and secure it to the side stand with cable ties. It will not affect the lean angle but you may need to replace it if you touch down regularly. :D

After a while, didn't like the rubber thingy. Decided to go full bling. Bought some handlebar clamps from Ebay and after some mods, viola! :D:D:D
