hi sh,

those brackets are the screen reinforcements i'm looking for. i see they are bolted on to the riser clamps. i can't tell from your photo (not enough illumination), but do you think the brackets will work with my gps mount as it is also bolted on to the clamps? tia

Hello Monstard

I think it should work,
but you will have to grind the spacers (between the clamps and GPS Mount) down about 1mm, then it should be possible to fit in the clamp.

I will see if i can make better photos today evening, in the sunlight with a normal camera.

hi hyperjens

thanks. mine is a touratech gps mount. yes, touratech makes a lot of stuff for bmw tourers. i also considered the minimalist mounts for simplicity but i needed something lockable when i park in public places as i usually forget to take off detachable stuff on the bike. i should look for a mounting bracket similar to yours that uses only the rear bolts of the riser clamp so i can use the front bolts to mount the screen reinforcement bracket similar to silenthunter's. i think i saw a photo of it somewhere here in the forum

Hello Monstard,

thanks silenthunter. those are much clearer photos showing how the reinforcement looks like. i think i can have it fabricated out of a piece of aluminum sheet. i know somebody who has a machine (autocad) that can do it
in any case, would you know if puig sells that bracket separately (without the screen)? i have this crazy idea of fabbing my own screen out of plexiglass. with that bracket, i think i can afford to use a screen with a larger surface area

After I waited 1 month for the missing part i have send back the windshield today.
5 minutes after I handeled in the windscreen the postman was ringing and brought me a small package from Spain. It was the missing part from puig :D

But it's no problem because meanwhile I bought an original high-touring windshield for less than the Puig shield so im happy now how it is :D

If the original one is crap I would buy the puig again! Style is good and it seems to be a good one!

NiceweatherManni, as I understand correctly you have had/tested both the Puig and the original bigger one from Ducati?
What are your thoughts? Which one is best, and why?

silenthunter: Are you zufrieden from your Puig screen?

Hello Treeper,

I personally think the Puig windscreen
takes much windpressure from your helmet (I´m 1,86 tall).

With the original one i got a real problem with my helmet buffeting in the wind.

But for longer trips i get a problem with my shoulders, they´re completely exposed to the wind pressure, that could be better with the original touring one because it is broader.

Also i get a problem with an extremely unstable front
when i accelerate hard (Sport Mode) over 120km/h in a slight turn.
I think the problem comes from the aerodynamic of the screen and my shoulders.
That is something i want to confirm this season by driving without the windscreen,
or with a smaller one.

But all in all i´m satisfied with the puig windscreen,
because it´s much cheaper than the original touring screen and has a good look too.
