Hello all,

Every time I go for a ride, the back of my Hypermotard 698 seat pops up!

Anyone know a remedy for this?

If that's where the lock is, some adjustment is needed! Maybe the cable, if it has one, is too tight?

No, it's at the rear end and there are 2 plastic nipples that are clipped in.

It's not about a lock. Its about the 2 plastic pins which hold the end of the seat pinned down.

hard to see from your photo, but it is possible that the rubber thing where the metal pin plugs into is either missing or squished inside. Remove the 2 side bolts, pop the seat off and inspect. Compare front and back.

while reinstalling, first thing to do is the thread in the side bolts lightly and then push in the seat to lock the pins and then tighten the bolts. My seat, had a bolt cross threaded when I picked it up from the dealer. Had to replace the seat.

I wonder if the central section of the seat is not supported enough to take the weight of you lucky owners, and the base just flexes and pings the back fixing out?

I had to order the new race seat because I tightened one of the bolts too tight on the original and stripped out the plastic that the brass fitting is in. Next time you have your seat off, you will see what I’m talking about. Bottom line, don’t overtighten your seat bolts. Had to break off the old seat mount to get it off.
My original seat popped up on both sides in the back every ride, and now the new race seat, which was very hard to get lined up by the way, does the same thing in the back and now the front right. Both rubber grommets are now missing from the back holes, look like they were wore out from the factory.
Crappy set up overall, hope they will address it with some kind of recall/fix.

I noticed some random black screw under my Pragmasis chain while preparing to head out to work recently. After looking over the bike, it turned out to be from the right side of the seat. It has been ok since lightly torquing it back in place. With a threaded brass insert on the seat, some medium-strength thread locker may be advisable.

Mine does that too. It’s a little annoying and surprising after the build quality of my previous v4 Streetfighter and then v4 Pikes Peak. I hope Ducati addresses it. Because after the seat pops out a few too many times, the rubber grommets eventually disintegrate or disappear IMG_8747.jpeg

My seat also had issues. It was replaced under warranty. The kickstand side seat screw was stripped when I brought the bike home. It may have been done when the tech setup the bike. An issue is the tabs don’t line up very nicely. When refitting my seat, the right screw goes in nicely but the the left one doesn’t. I have to push the seat forward a lot to get the screw in. There are the metal tabs on the subframe and then the tabs on the seat bottom with brass nuts. I feel extra care must be taken when refitting the seat or a screw will be stripped. I’m not impressed with the design.

Just brought mine home today brand new and it is popping off in the back like this.

Hope Ducati can figure it out. My front right pops too. So with the missing (stripped out) left side bolt, the only things holding my seat on are the front left rubber grommet and the right side bolt. Still wheelies nicely though. :)
