rear sprocket has lateral clearance

never seen before but on weekend i found out that my hyper 939, 8500 km, has play at its rear sprocket.

seems to be the same like here https://www.ducati.org/forums/848/8352-loose-rear-sprocket.html , and i also found others with the same issue at different Ducatis.

Now the question - is this normal that there is a little lateral clearance ?
I never did see it before but maybe this is since new and "works as designed".

all screws and nuts are tight, also the big axle nut on sprocket side.

My son, who is a mechanics in a KTM and Triumph shop, looked at it and told me he has never seen such a big play on sprocketside and i should check it with my Ducati dealer. But with Google i found it seems many others have the same, so could be normal also.
Please note, its only lateral play, no play in moving forward or backward. The rubbers inside are fine.

Do your hypers have the same issue ?

There is a post somewhere on this forum where another member has found their sprocket nut to be loose. Mine was also loose from the factory. Loose enough to be turned with your fingers.

i have seen this thread, but i do not mean the loose nut, mine is tight and everything else.
i mean the wobbly sprocket when the nut is tight as seen on both videos

Mine wiggled also. Maybe not quite as much but definitely a bit of wiggle.

The cush pucks are a friction fit, expanding when the studs are tightened to 48nm. I see the sprocket carrier slipping over the pucks, they might be shot so they don't expand properly when the nuts are tightened, so they're not holding teh carrier in place. I'd get new pucks and see if that fixes the issue.

Huh. Mine were loose even when new, I remember asking about it at my dealer at the 600mi service and he said it was normal to have some lateral play. Maybe the nuts were loose!

I've done some googling and it seems a little play is acceptable, but here I see the carrier sliding over the pucks with relative ease, and with what looks like a lot of play. I'm going to check mine tomorrow, but I don't remember anything like that when I changed my sprocket. I did put on a 3rd party quick release carrier...

The pucks' outer shells are greased, and everything is floating on the rubber so some lateral movement seems baked in, perhaps for some give if the swingarm flexes, but this looks different. Could be loose bolts, could be a worn carrier not sure.
