Seat Movement

Wondering if anyone experiencing this issue - my seat has started moving enough during rides that it comes off the front spindle posts. Usually just one side comes off and then I can feel it rubbing against the post as it moves slightly, usually a felt clicking noise.

Think it's an easy fix. Just hope seat isn't too short overall. I'll probably wrap the posts to make them thicker.

I had something similar but found my centre hook on the seat wasn't on the frame properly.

No adjustment, just relatively easy not to locate it properly with out taking care.
I have got it down to a fine art now, so no problem.

there is a catch in the centre of the seat. You have to slide the centre of the seat into the catch. Then you fit the front in. Follow by the rear hatch.

hi
i am sorry to bring this thread up again, but i am having same issue with my seat.

i am guiding the front part correctly and making sure that the centre tab is under the bar attached to the frame of the bike and locking the rear, but still i have the front seat movement and quite a tank to seat gap.

what am i doing wrong please?

thank you

Even with the center tab engaged, these seats will still move a little bit but not as much as if the center tab is not hooked. If you want to know if your center tab engaged, grab the underside of the seat in the middle and you can pull it up more than a 1/2" or so, your center tab did not hook. I've done this several times until I figured out the method for putting the seat on correctly. It can be a little tricky.

In an old thread, I detailed how I put spacers under the cross member with the center latch. Mine was impossible to latch until I raised the cross member height. Seats are mostly hand made and they're will be tolerance issues. I also had issues with my forward hooks popping off the bobbins every ride. Dealer had to do some black magic to make it work.

thank you for your replies.

I will try to latch it in place again.

yes I can also here a click from the front left bobbin, like it is slipping out.

I am a bit hesitant to put to tamper with the subframe on a brand new bike :(

keep an eye on the forward arms that hook the bobbins, too. They're plastic and mine got weak from popping off the bobbin. I was going to reinforce it with some metal. You can't do much with the bobbins as far as adjustment. They are short threaded and don't really lock down until fully seated.

I found that if I didn't get the middle tab catching when putting the seat back on that i had this problem. You have to bend the seat to get it to catch while you guide the forward tabs into place. It is tricky.

Mine got so bad that the one of the forward tabs was bending and it would pop off the spindle almost immediately. My shop did some magic and it's been good since. I still get a little movement and a pop when I shift weight but it stays secure.
