Shocking - Nitron Carts and Shock

Recently had my local shop install new carts and shock from Nitron. 2016 939 Hyperstrada.

Nitron Shocks Shock is NTR R3. Spring and oil weight is bespoke assembly from factory. Sag was set at the shop for my 84kgs in-gear weight. Rear shock was great from the Nitron factory with the clickers mid-point, front needed some dialing in for me.

Wow - it's a completely different bike now! Handling is much improved. Biggest difference is with compression damping, so now the bike doesn't buck back and forth under braking and acceleration. Much better balanced between front and back, resulting in vastly improved cornering. Previously, it would take a lot of input to hold a line in fast corners, as the front would pogo.

Bike is taller now, so I'm just flat foot at 184cm. (Race seat provides some height as well) The rear tire just gets off the ground on the centre stand. Bike also feels lighter.

Super happy with the upgrade!

Glad you had success with Nitron. They made a complete mess of speccing a shock for my Cagiva Raptor 650, both springs so far supplied being far heavier weight than I need. Some time I'll get around to calling them...

Just got front and rear nitron on my 13 hyperstrada. Very nice indeed - maybe a few tweaks needed, but I'm liking it very much. Don't think my bike is taller.

OMG - we can post again?!? The site isn't busted?

I'm still very much impressed with the upgrade. Bike is very settled and polite even with terrible tarmac.

Just curious about whether yours is the standard or low seat height. Also good to see this site is working again. I had given up on it. I wonder how long it will last?

The site is not going anywhere. Promise

We had a technical issue that I was not aware of, but it has been fixed now. More updates coming to the site.

My sincere apologies for any inconvenience. This is the only Hyperstrada community online, and I promise it will always stay online.

Maybe the height is due to sag settings, I think if it was a taller suspension, you'd have to replace the side and center stand.
Sag is set. And yes, the side stand is frighteningly short. Centre stand barely gets the rear wheel off the ground.

Maybe a side stand off a SP would be better.

It is so tricky: The Hyperstrada started with a shorter suspension than the motard, and then sort of offered, but seems to have randomly put on, and even shorter suspension at some point. It is not easy to tell what is what. I went through 2 front carts to get the right length. I'd measure your side stand, and try to get the measurement on a standard motard, or tall strada. side stand, as opposed to an SP - and see what that looks like. Or shim it to what looks right and get the stand that approximates that length. My guess: they used the higher version of the strada, or they used a motard version. Doubt they used an SP version.

Which carts did you install and how did you determine which was the right one? It seems like there are a number of 'LOW' versions of the HS out there and i'm not sure everyone knows what they have. Does yours still have a sticker on the swingarm for chain tension? If so, does it match up with any of these values?

The easiest way for me to confirm I had the "standard" height was from this page in the manual. The 333mm height to the base of the hole in the frame.

Didn't see this until now - My mechanic figured it out. The poster above gave good info. I would contact Nitron and go through it carefully. The strada is already low compared to the motard, so the low version is even lower. The strada is sort of an outlier, so if you say "standard height" they may mistake that for the motard height.

I'm just gonna throw this in here for posterity sake. This is from a 2016 owners manual. Upon close examination, it appears the height may be measured from the top of the footpeg. I can't see a hole near that location other then the swingarm pivot bolt hole. Ultimately, the ground clearance should be a straight forward measurement. My bike (2016) has a sticker on the tank stating it's the low version.
